I'm in the market for a pre-owned GLC 43 Coupe, and I'm finding conflicting information. Are the standard headlights on the 2017 43 LED, HID, or Halogen projectors? Figured the forum would know.

Probably depends on the country of the car?

Yes. I have the brochure. I have different dealers telling me different things. That’s why I reached out to the forum... to hear from owners.

Do you happen to have a base GLC 43.... did yours come with LED headlights?

wife has a base glc300 where they are not standard , but that was the 2017 model brochure I linked I believe.

you can run the vin and see what options show up but it seems all are standard with LED and the option is the active part of it. Do you have a vin number ?

Yup I have two vins. One has the active LED (ran a vin decoder). The other does not have any item or package. Dealer said they are halogen projectors with LED strips. So I’ve been mind boggling lol.

Ahh good point. Totally forgot that 43s are AMGs lol. I don’t consider them real AMGs like most people I guess. Engine and transmission alone shouldn’t quality it.

what’s the vin of the one in question ? You can tell by even looking at the headlight housing

searched eBay for 2017 GLC 43’s. Sure look like a mix of LED and halogen to me ! Interesting. Led would not work well in a standard reflector housing and i see reflector housings on the parts site with halogen bulbs.

I suggest you don't buy a car without LEDs. .. and get Intelligent LEDs if at all possible though I'm not sure they are even available in U.S.

If I recall, intelligent LEDs are available in the US, but the MULTIBEAM intelligent LEDs are Europe-only due to some arcane laws in the US that prevents us from having them.

Yup the Active LEDS are available. I'm looking at one with them but the vehicle has been in an accident. Here's a pic of the base GLC43 headlamp the dealer took for me. LEDs or Halogen?

Looks different to my Intelligent LEDs. ...unfortunately cannot make out what's written under the lens.

If you are in contact with the dealer asking him to take photos why not just ask what type of lights they are?

That is my problem and the reason for the post. The brochure says LED is standard. Dealer says they are halogen. I asked for a pic and I cannot tell. I figured the owners on the forum would know.

very helpful to know the main beam is. I’m guessing the other is a fog light. I’ll try to do more recon.

I doubt very much the other is a fog light.
I would presume the other is also LED and is paired as a high beam low beam duo.

You appear to have the LED ''eyebrow ' Daylight Running Lights also.
I can't see MB mixing LEDs and Halogen in the one unit.

that's the same headlight on my wife's GLC300 with the LED package (regular, not active). The high beams are not halogen, I believe those halogen looking lights come on when you press the fog light button but not 100% sure as never used it.

I did have a 2023 GLC43 AMG Coupe. It did come with the intelligent lights and it did have the cornering feature. The option is called 640 Intelligent lights. This was a cool light that actually came on from the side of the car and lit up the curb/corner. I just traded for the GLE53 AMG coup and the 640 feature does not include the little "cornering lights". Super bummed about that.

Ya it was called ILS or like you said intelligent light system. The GLE for some reason doesn't have cornering lights on pre-facelift in the USA for some odd reason. People say it is a regulation issue but I find it weird since like you mentioned, the GLC has it, anyways, more on it here:
