GLC LED Headlight Malfunction / Issue

Took my wife's car out to get an oil change yesterday and noticed several alerts in the heads up display. She has a 2016 GLC300 with 57K kms ( 40K miles) and just out of warranty. Error messages are Right low beam, Right signal Adaptive headlight malfunction see owners manual ( Paraphrasing ) The right low beam stays on during daylight where as the left side headlight has LED bar illuminated. When I shut off the car the right low beam LED stays lit for around 15 minutes during the daytime. When I use the left turn signal I it also comes up with an error message but appears to be operational. I checked the fuses in the engine compartment and passenger side foot well, but all are good. It appears that one or more of the LED modules has failed? Looking at the back of the headlight there appears to be several aluminum finned modules with one having access through the plastic wheel liner. Can anyone give me directions on which one does what and which I would need to be replaced? If I replaced a module, would I need to have it programmed by a dealer or would a mechanic with a good scanner be able to program it? I'm pissed at the dealer as the car warranty is 6 weeks expired and they will not give me an exception. Thanks in advance for your help.

I guess I'm all alone on this one. Hopefully someone will have some knowledge on these LED headlights to help me out.

I do not know which one is the bad one on your car, but yes if you replace them, they have to be coded to the car and it will most likely be a dealer only job.

I would reach out ot MB USA customer care and ask about a goodwill consideration. For a failure like that with a car just barely out of warranty they should do something for you.

My dad's '14 ML350 right side LED headlamp had a problem somewhat similar to yours and he was fearing an expensive fix, but it turned out to be the bulb causing the malfunctions and error messages, not any modules.

A 2014 does not have LED lights, and the LED lights don't have replaceable bulbs.

Just tried again and Mercedes will not budge on giving me a reprieve. I might just go down in person as see what they are willing to do for me. LEDs are promoted as being the most efficient source of lighting and the LEDs themselves last a very long time, BUT from my experience for both home and auto lighting the drivers/ballasts are the weak link and I have replaced more than my share of dead LED bulbs. Luckily I won't have to replace my whole headlight, but I would of rather replaced a H7 bulb than we stuck having to go back to a dealership.

Are there any other dealers or indy shops in your area you can take it to get a diagnostic? A diagnostic will most likely help you narrow down, if not pinpoint the problem. Might be worth the $100 or so for a test. Are you getting any codes from a cheap code reader?

Yes: from Blue Driver
1 A40/11 Multifunction camera (mono) code
U120B Communication with control unit " Headlamp" has a malfunction. The system function is restricted
1 N69/2 Right front door code
B1755 The output for entrance lamp has a malfunction. There is a short circuit to positive or an open circuit

Not sure that the right front door code has anything to do with it but who knows...

I have found the issue and here's how I fixed it. I purchased a new module A222 900 07 02 from dealer. It was #5 in the first image. You have to give your VIN so they know the exact part you need. Dealership wanted 4 hours to install and another 2 hours for programming. I was pretty furious that the module crapped out just after my warranty had expired so I was going to install it myself. What I found, is that I needed to remove the front bumper assembly, which I ended up having a local body shop do for me for a cash. The actual removal and installation of the module is very straight forward. The bumper is over my pay grade, but I did find a youtube video that shows how. It's doable for sure. Then back to the stealership for the programming. I phoned around and they all had different pricing. I ended up getting charged 225. for the programming.
