add smart phone integration to 2019 GLC300
so I just purchased a 2019 GLC300 which appears to have the "Multimedia package" and from my initial online searching it seems like in the 2019 GLC models you either have the following:
Multimedia package - no carplay
smart phone integration model - has carplay
What options do I have for adding apple carplay if I currently have the mutli media package? Any thoughts out there? I have not called MB yet.
I did find this thread... the amazon unit online 2015-2018 years but it seems like my unit is the NTG5.0 so it could work.

Your only option is aftermarket. The MB smartphone integration package for those model years was not compatible with the Multimedia package. You either could option the Multimedia package, or the Smartphone integration package, but not both. This changed with NTG 5.5 and MBUX where the Smartphone integration is part of the system now. I have zero experience with any of the aftermarket kits out there. I have NTG 5.5 in my 2019 C63 with factory smartphone integration.

I knew it did not come with CarPlay. I ordered the adapter kit from Roadtop which cost me approx $270 Cdn.
Installed it literally day after I took possession.
it was a bit of a tease at first but eventually it cooperated and working properly a few days later. Used a wireless dongle as well (another $60 Cdn) ... but was still not happy with size of display. So ordered the Roadtop 12.5" display replacement unit. It is now installed, (previous installed adapter and dongle are now on work bench ! Lol) and I'm beyond satisfied !!! It is literally enormous but awesome and with a few tweaks is working as good as promised.
I know I know... only a few weeks in and changed out display. This is not my first rodeo.. I'm fairly experienced and not afraid to tackle most infotainment options.
next on my list is the digital gauge upgrade 👍
Feel free to reach out for any question. Cheers 👍

Roadtop 12.5" canbus issue
so just for context. I have a 2019 GLC 300 Coupe. Just purchased on Jan 27 of this year.

That is weird !!!
I had zero issues with power so in itself is weird. I did have some "Siri" issues with connectivity, finally just used my phone for connectivity and not the Mercedes software link. I just audibly call Siri without touching anything and it works pretty good.
Did you take out the fiber optic cable from back of stereo and attach it to the new cabling system as instructed ?

Just thinking about the power.... I used the power that went to original stereo connection so it should be shutting off when you exit the car like normal. Maybe take some pushing your wiring and let us have a look ???

Yes I did connect the fiber cables to the new unit. I am not using the power cable I took out of the original screen as it does not fit in the new screen. I used the power cable from the harness that came with the unit. How did you manage to use the original power cable?

I installed the GTA kit a couple months ago on my 2016. TBH, I think it’s more trouble than it’s worth, as least for me that doesn’t drive my car every day or use Waze often.
Too many Bluetooth issues switching between the built-in system and the kit, and echoing during phone calls. Also, the kit uses stereo audio, not multichannel, so the Burmester sounds like crap, lacking depth, when using the wired connection. To solve, you use the wireless Bluetooth connection, but then you run into the aforementioned Bluetooth issues. GTA is pretty quick to respond to questions, but I’m not sure they fully understand the issues.
I’m also not convinced by CarPlay’s benefits on a non-touch screen.

roadtop display
hi, for those that have ordered and installed the roadtop display, would you still recommend it?
There are a couple of choices on amazon, one for 300 and one for 500, can someone please post the link to the one they purchased, thanks

I'm sorry I have not replied..
Sorry I'm so late replying... I did not see your question. It's been so long since I installed I'm uncertain of exact steps. Im hoping you got it straightened out okay ...

I think it is.
IMO, it's worth it. I installed in my 2019 GLC 300 Coupe, and the touch features plus Waze, plus plus plus for me. It does have its quirks. Some times SIRI works and some times it doesn't. Not a huge deal. I don't use mine for long trips just inner city. The physical size going from 8 to 12.5 inches makes it worth it alone !!! Lol
I use several apps and am quite happy with the bounce back between MB app and CarPlay. I purchased mine directly from Roadtop.com 👍
