On the highway it’s soft but you get some lean in corners and not enough damping on large swells at speed, almost feels like it bottoms. This is a rare occurrence so maybe not worth mentioning. Works very well most of the time but might want to go to Sport Mode for more aggressive driving.
Sport Mode is my favorite with a good balance of not too stiff yet not too compliant. I have my Individual Mode set with Sport Mode Suspension now....actually all Sport Mode except Comfort for the engine. The only problem is that the Mode resets to Comfort after I turn off the vehicle. There’s a setting that’s supposed to give you a notice at start up to select “I” but it’s not working. Need to research in the manual-maybe my misunderstanding. I have never had soft suspension so that might distort my perspective.
i think the Airmatic is a bargain and gives you some options to tailor it more to what you like. Not perfect but a good add if your budget has room.
Thanks Ron for your insights! I have been looking forward to hearing more of your experiences with air suspension. Edmunds review got me worried but coming from my GLC, I hate stiff rides. I never had a car with air suspension so gave it a shot in my build which I hope to get at the end of August. I agree that it is frustrating for the car not to remember your settings or even just stay at the last setting. My GLC reset everytime too. I think it is reasonable to expect the car to do as much especially if you are paying close to $70K. Anyhow, please continue to share your experiences. I am especially concerned about reliability although the model is fairly new.

Coming from my GLC, I hate stiff rides so went ahead and pulled the trigger on air suspension but Edmunds review got me worried. I have never owned a car with air suspension so hopefully when I get the order delivered in August, I will find out more on how it feels. Please keep posting your experiences with air suspension. It will also be great to hear about any reliability concerns. I agree that it is frustrating for ~$70K car not to remember the last drive mode.

One question with regards to Acoustics package... In my GLC, the front windshield as an acoustic glass sign on it. I have looked at several GLEs in the dealer lot and I don't see any marking on any of them. Does that mean that, to get the acoustic glass, you have to have the acoustic package? It would be annoying if that is the case as I think it should pretty much be standard. What are your thoughts?

All windshield glass is laminated, which has acoustic properties. The Acoustic package adds infrared-reflectance and acoustic (not sure if laminated or double-glazed) side glass.

So I just got my 450, fairly loaded, however it doesn’t have the Interior Assistant and was supposed to. No credit that I’m aware of. I thought this was part of the MBUX Technology package, which I have and is stated as such on the sticker, but there is no mention of that feature. Anyone hear of this occurring? Dealer said nothing about it and when I asked just said it should probably be activated through the settings screen but we couldn’t find it. And then I realized I have the sunglass holder which you don’t get w the interior assistant.
If I had to have an option missing that might be the one, but still annoying. And the car is fantastic on so many levels. Only other gripe would be the seats become uncomfortable after awhile, although they are very comfortable when you first get in them.
Anyone out there have the same experience with the Interior Assistant?

I"ve done three orders for a 450, all pretty loaded. The first one, supposedly to arrive in may, was going to arrive without the Interior Assistant among a coupla other things I ordered. The second order was going to be missing other things. I'm on my third order hoping nothing gets booted out.

Mine came with interior assistant but it's pretty much worthless at this time. Having the hardware makes it possible to get future upgrades that might help improve it.

Interior Assistant was deleted from the package for a time but there was a different package designation and a $300 credit. Search the forum or I will look up tomorrow.

That explains it Greg, I was charged $1300 for the package vs. the $1600 it should be with Interior Assistant. Bummer, I never even got a heads up. The sunglass holder will come in handy I suppose but I would have rather had the extra tech even if it's not that functional.

Ordered first week in December, was supposed to be production complete 4/3, then 5/10, then 5/26, but was delivered a little earlier than expected, this past Tuesday.

I've had a production date that kept moving, until it got to 3-13. Still there. Did you get any warning it was coming, or did it just show up at the dealer?
Thanks for your answers!

They called me and told me the day when it was completed, which was about 12 days prior. I think I had called with an inquiry about it maybe the day before. I don't know if it is all the built up anticipation but I seriously feel like its the best car I've ever been in. I love everything about it.

I found this guy a few months back. From what I gather, he's an ex-Marine but he does his videos so well. He never shows his face, just his hands. He's very fair from all the vids I've seen. He does headlight tests and somewhat amusing suspension tests. He also does very long road tests that few Youtube folks ever do.

I ordered on a similar time frame as you. Interesting that they've updated your estimated your production date. As of last Tuesday when I got my NetStar report, it still listed my production date as 4/14/19. Maybe I ought to check in and see if it's been updated.

I ordered 5/4 and today is exactly one month since and I still don't have a PO or any kind of an estimate apart from "anywhere between aug and oct".
It's one of the top 3 biggest NYC dealers. I will have to get back to them sometime this week and speak to a sale manager I guess.
Cannot believe that there is not even an estimate build month at this point

Same for me except that I ordered 3 April and the estimated delivery date is "mid/end of September". Apart from that: nothing!

What can I ask to the dealer in terms of information? PO number? Delivery date? Production date? VIN number? Netstar screenshot?

(NB: do not hesitate to give the exact wording of what I could request t the dealer)

I ordered 3/9 and was initially told to expect it sometime in June.

Checked with my salesperson yesterday who confirmed that it was just built, and is "waiting at final processing center which is last step before it comes to dealership. So long as not delayed too much may have it end of this month or so".

It's a fairly simple build (see my signature), so maybe that's why it hasn't been delayed several times like others in this thread.

Damn Android auto looks 10x better than apple car play on here. I hope apple gets their act together. Right now it only uses a fraction of the screen. Also, lack of wireless integration is weak.

We spoke with a sales person this Sunday and he said they had a build slot for August 1 which means delivery by end of Sep. Given everyone's experiences so far, I'm wondering if this is pure BS. Is 2 months reasonable for a new order now?

I don't think we can tell with any certainty yet. Normally it should be, but there is not a clear pattern on orders and deliveries, as far as I can tell.

A gaggle of MB's
Frankly at this moment - there are more units coming out of the factory - especially on the GLE350 side - and what is throwing dealer's for a loop - is that "yes" there seems to be no rhyme or reason on what is being completed - and dealers are strongly encouraged NOT to try to chase specific production units - even if those units are customer ordered units.

On 2020 GLE's for the dealer at this moment - there are no added dealer incentives or extra "money" - so most dealers have a net invoice with about 5%-6% margin - so walk-in customer "discounts" are lean - regardless to spurious reports off/on about "10% off" and the like.

For some member's here in urban areas - there just might be "something" out there being delivered to another dealer that "might work" - the hard part if you want to check that it requires effort on either by email/internet inquiry - or the old fashioned phone thing.

At fixed margin - no extra incentive - makes any dealer reluctant to do a "trade search" - the only added incentive for a dealer is at absolute end-of-the-month - where dealers will be more open minded to go flat out as much as invoice - to get the added new car "punch" to help make their monthly new car units sales goals (with end-June being month-end and end-of-quarter as well).
