Exactly the same setup for me as well, ordered May 4th and I am given 1st week of September as production date.
My Sales person is quite inept with Netstar though, so I don't know the exact status...
At least up until Monday the date hasn't slipped yet so hopefully everything is on track.

Finally picking up my GLE 350 tomorrow! Started in March, Reordered in May, was given a Production date of 8/11. It was actually built in three days from 8/6 to 8/9. Now on Car Carrier to arrive at Dealer today. What an exhausting process. Maybe they are starting to catch up, I wish everyone good luck and hang in there!

I have a question on netstar status for a 450 order we put in April.
Decade Planned - 19/07-2
Decade Scheduled - 19/08-1
Est Prod Date - 8/29/2019
Status - B3-X-10 PROD
VIN - Not assigned

Is Est Prod date the date that production is meant to start or end? My SA says it will start on 8/29 and that's why i don't have a VIN # and it will be around 8/29 if all goes well that we should see a VIN. But recent posts make me think otherwise.

Just to conf time it was was a software issue that caused the delays. I forget the specifics from what I was told months ago as I didn’t care since not getting one. Also parts. But I will check with my guy on the specifics of it and update next day or so.

Every reason in the book has been used for the delays, I was told emissions, we will never know but not good enough for the people waiting for their cars.

The Production date is when it should be finished. So it is planned to start by 8/10 and be done by 8/29.

I have wrapped my head around just waiting for my second order even if the first one is completed earlier because I no longer trust that the first order will up to MB standards.
Me too! I have a February order just hanging around somewhere it even shows as built, but keeps getting “accessory updates”. I agree about the standards as well.

I wonder if now having a specific date (17th) increases confidence versus just having a decade.

Unfortunately got news today that my September 17 production date slipped to September 23... At best (if no more delays) it will be 7 months from early March deposit to delivery.
At first, after the allocation in April, production was scheduled for first decade in August, but I caught an error (they "accidentally" removed e-ABC, I was vigilant about checking thanks to this forum). When they readded it, the date shifted to second decade in August, then in early August it became September 17, and now September 23.

Hopefully this is the last slippage, but I'm not holding my breath.

Ok so update the delays are due in part to the suppliers not getting parts to factory on time with the new supplies. So basically they have 10s of thousands built as many as 40k and now down to 30k that need various random parts. Could be a seat, and over head console, a trim piece etc.

the fact your car shows as not built is probably not exactly true. It’s just not updated bc it’s not even done yet. I will try to get out to an area they are holding them at I’m told it looks amazing to see all the cars just sitting there. It’s a public area at an old mall so getting pics should be easy.

side note check the gls 167 section to see a crude mock up of the new AMG steering wheel

A German newspaper has recently made a paper on the GLE/GLS production delays (unfortunately in German and not with full access)

https://www.automobilwoche.de/articl...-zurueckhalten

As far as I understand, nothing really new in this article, except that we now know which are the suppliers responsible of such delays (SMP and Lear) and which parts (seats and bumpers). However, someone on a German forum made the following additional comment based on information from an MB insider (translation in English as best as I could due to the difficulty of the German language):

"Mr. Trump wants that Mercedes only order to American suppliers.

This is not enough:

1. For the mass of orders in pieces of the GLE.

2. The quality requirements can not be provided by the American supplier as desired.

3. The German Minister of Finance was on-site to solve the problem and asked German engineers to be sent to help to America. Mr. Trump wanted the other way round and wanted to send American engineers to Germany."

My first post so bear with me. I ordered a 2020 GLE 450 on 7/27 I have the PO # just tried to add the Airmatic suspension and was told my order is no longer changeable. Based on what I have read here this is extremely fast. Does this make sense and what should I ask my dealer for?

That’s not early if production is on schedule. They lock early because of the JIT ordering process. Suppliers get numbers and a build date allowing them to have the parts there on time.
Reorder is the only way to get a change made....

Earlier this week I got confirmation that car will not be ready till December. MB Canada guaranteed will not be next year but end of the year.

And they also advised to re order the car might even show up earlier.

That seems to indicate that yours is one of the stored units sitting in the Sun for months. A re order might be a good move!

We just ordered a 350 earlier this month. Our sales person says it's in production and should arrive late Sep/early Oct. I've been following this thread so I know there have been significant delays for many people. Not sure how reliable the current estimate we've been given is. I figure it's probably too early to really know since the order is only a few weeks old. If there are any important key questions for us to ask along the way, would appreciate hearing what those are.

350s are moving along at a much better clip than 450s, it seems.

Sales rep just called and said dealers are now dealing with a stop sale on about 25% of units on the ground due to an issue with the window washer system, I am not sure of specifics.

I ordered a 350 this past Saturday, and its expected for delivery in early December (11/D1 Production Schedule). Not sure if there are still delays related to the Airmatic Suspension and MBUX, but I did get both those options, so we will see.

I seem to recall a post of someone saying their washer reservoir was mysteriously emptying with no leak on the floor.

My first Mercedes. Am I making a mistake?

Two weeks ago I put a down payment on a 2020 GLE 450. This is to be able to place an order the next time a slot opens up for my dealer. After reading all the problems with production delays and GLE issues is waiting for this vehicle going to be worth it? I have never owned a Mercedes before and wonder how this vehicles "buying experience" could be so convoluted. What advice and thoughts do you have for me? Thanks.

I have every new model of ML/GLE since '97 at the beginning. This launch is unusually troubled. Sounds like they are slowly working out initial production supply issues. However, I have found the ownership experiences to be very good (that could very somewhat depending on the dealer).
