Whoops - you are absolutely correct - my error!

I believe(?) I should have written "AMG 20 inch 5-double-spoke-design". (The Canadian Benz build site calls them "20-inch AMG 5-twin spoke aero... so confusing)

The twin spoke wheels are very nice, also - my father-in-law's E-Class sedan has them; they do look distinctly different.

Sorry Everyone!

GLE-350 20" AMG Aero wheel center cap

Hi Everyone,

Would anyone happen to know what the (correct) center cap size is for 20" AMG Aero wheel on the MY20 GLE-350 (with Sport/Night Package option)?

I believe the model numbers on the wheelset are A1674013200/3300 (source: https://www.kunzmann.de/shop/en/tire...high-sheen.htm)

Thanks in advance!

Florian

PS- sorry if this is already in another thread/wrong thread!

I think you will see in that same website they are Mercedes standard 66.8 mm. https://www.kunzmann.de/shop/en/prod...-benz/gle/167/

These, like most aftermarket lug bolts, are made in Italy.

The lug bolt saga

What a saga. To reiterate, I'm going to use 12mm spacers with the rear wheels from my W166 for my Winter setup to achieve the OEM offset. There are no radius seat extended M15x1.25 lug bolts on the market even to this point, AFAIK. So, I ended up ordering custom titanium ones from a Chinese company forum member tery from Vancouver found. $318 seemed like a good deal, compared to us quote of $499 for US made ones. Company seemed legit and with good capabilities.

Well, after 7 weeks I received them, and they were beautiful, but the bolt seat was not the correct shape. https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post7826552 No way I was going to use them. I did a CAD drawing to explain the situation: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post7829026 They agreed to remake them, but insisted I return the original ones, at my expense. Cost me $161, So today, four months after my original order, at a total cost of $479 and much grief, I get the new ones. This time it looks like they have the correct seat shape, but I have yet to try them in the car because my wife has it. Long story short, think long and hard about custom ordering from China, then just say no!

Ordered mine yesterday, thanks for sharing the information Greg. (actually, I ordered the lug bolts guides for the GLE, not the female threaded tool)

Speaking of new lug bolts, when I installed my winter tire setup (I used a breaker bar with flower socket, no impact wrench), I struggled to get a grip on one lug bolt. Look at the photo below. I assume that this is the factory's handiwork, I don't think the dealership would have touched the wheels. Not an immediate issue, as the tirerack winter tire setup uses different lug bolts.

Hard to imagine that was done at the factory. The good news is a replacement is only $7.30. I use an impact wrench with the flower head socket (not for final tightening) with no damage.

I agree, but it was rusted. so the only option is factory or dealer. I'm swinging by one day this week to get a replacement.

Bimecc lug bolts for 2020 GLE

The Bimecc product catalog 11th edition (found on their Italian website) shows the following lug bolts for 2020 GLEs:http://www.bimecc.it/wp-content/uplo...e-2019_web.pdf
(the catalog is in English)

PS17Q27-MW-ZN

Spherical R14

K 17

M15x1,25x27/48,5

10.9

Zinc Nickel Black

GLE (W167)

GLE coupè (W167)

GLS (from 2020

PS17Q45-MW-ZN

Spherical R14

K 17

M15x1,25x45/66,5

9.8

Zinc Nickel Black

GLE (W167)

GLE coupè (W167)

GLS (from 2020)

Originally I found the above 2 items on the website of a service station supply company in Germany (https://www.radschrauben-shop.de).

The website is in German, and they only sell to businesses.

The main application for the 2 items they list as follows:

In English: for GLE (W167) and GLS (from 2020) using Mercedes wheels meant for M14x1,5 ball seat lug bolts.

I don't know whether and when they will become available in North America.

Please be advised this will only fit oem wheels and will not work on aftermarket wheels because its machined wider at the base.

Good point - tool measures 0.610" (15.5mm) d. at widest. OEM lug bolt is 0.604" d. OEM wheel lug hole is 0.620" (15.75mm) d. I'm not sure what the aftermarket wheels are running, but they are probably have smaller holes because the bolts are not bulged to retain the seat like on the OEMs. I drilled out my W166 wheels to 39/64" (0.609") but it's not quite enough for the tool. Will enlarge to 5/8".

If anyone has a caliper and chance to measure the holes on an aftermarket wheel, please do so. I would like to give feedback to the guide tool manufacturer.

Won’t work on Vossen, must be 15 mm. At least the bolts fit!

Greg -

Thanks for bringing this matter to my attention. I will definitely be reducing the diameter of the tools a bit. I will also replace the tools for anyone encountering a problem. I did try to find a record of the sale to Henry Stark, but, that must just be his forum handle. Could you PM him and ask him to get in touch with me? I don't want to do that myself since I am not n MBWorld sponsor.

Sorry about the delayed response. It's been family first the last few days.

Henry, I suspect the Vossens were designed for M14 bolts, which is causing the issue. I have not seen anyone else report an issue. If Fred reduces the tool diameter it may work less well for other wheels.

The Otis 15x1.25 cone lug bolts work perfect in the Vossens.

Understood - the holes are always oversized to some extent. In the case of the OEMs they are more oversized than usual because of the bulge to contain the loose seat. Do you have access to calipers to measure the Vossen holes, or could you ask the supplier what the hole diameter is?

I just received two revised tools which have had the maximum diameter reduced from 15.5 to 15.0mm (0.590"). This is still not small enough for Henry's wheels, but should work for most.
