2021 GLE 53 Order Thread
Let’s get the 2021 order information in one place. There is currently info posted on several threads so I thought it might be helpful for a thread devoted to the order date and tentative build schedule plus any schedule changes or updates. As we go along it might help the group keep tabs on how the Factory is progressing. Hopefully there aren’t going to be more slow downs but the Covid virus seems to be coming back strong.
Order Date June 24, 2020. (Actual order to Mercedes about a week later.)
Build Date Assigned. July 13, 2020. Decade 1, October
I had 1st priority with my Dealer-there were no 2021 GLE 53 orders ahead of mine.

Your Dealer should check on your order. Either something went wrong/mistake or something in your order is causing the delay. The only thing that comes to mind might be the leather selection or maybe Trim type like Carbon Fiber. Just thinking that because our other orders have most of the options.

The way Mercedes describes them is GLE 53 SUV and GLE 53 Coupe. Mine is an order for the SUV.

Well.... on AZ's issue ..... GLE53W4 (SUV) Production "maybe" starting August, and thru Sept had been allocated to dealers 5-6 weeks ago and is "Red" factory Lockdown.
A "few" October Build-Slots are just now being allocated - MB is holding back allocating more October until they have a better handle that start-up will happen close-to-schedule.
There are "2" Red/Black Interior choices - 557 Exclusive Nappa and 857 Classic - and then Carbon Fiber Interior Trim is H86...

Is anyone thinking of adding Mercedes Extended Warranty to 2021 AMG 53 SUV that is on order? The dealer is giving me a price of $4,750 for 7 years, 75k.
So really for 3 additional years past warranty and an extra 25k miles. Seems like this could be an expensive vehicle to repair. Thoughts?

There appear to be seven levels of Extended Warranty based on Mileage and years. Price also varies by Tier level with AMG Tier 4 the most expensive.5 yrs—75k5yrs—100k6yr—75k6yrs—100k7yrs—75k7yrs—100 k

Tier 1 | A, GLB, CLA, GLA, C-Class, GLK, SLK
Tier 2 | E-Class, M-Class, GL-CLass
Tier 3 | S-Class, SL-Class, CLS, Diesel, R-Class

Getting a quote one needs to make sure it’s for the same term and mileage. Some Dealers may sell a warranty plan from a non MB source.

Does anyone know difference and possible have pictures of the Metal weave trim vs the carbon fiber trim also is the tow hitch automatic on the AMG, basically does it tuck under the rear bumper or it’s always visible.

In the US the hitch is visible. I couldn’t find any good pics of the two trims. The Online Configurator makes the CF look more silver so I went Metal Weave. It looks like what we have in our Audi, the colors go well with black. Both will probably look good.

I have seen both trims at the local dealer in different models and the carbon fiber is head and shoulders knock out better than the metal weave in my opinion. Ya gets what ya pay for!!

Our Local Dealer had just got in an e-class AMG with Metal Weave. The GLE AMG is hers and she liked the Metal Weave (lighter Silver Color) better than the Carbon Fiber (Darker Gray). We got to see both in different Vehicles.
I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with either. To me, carbon fiber is always classy, but she picked the black leather AMG seats and wanted a lighter dash with the metal weave. Plus, to her they were so close, the carbon wasn’t worth another $1,150.

The carbon fiber seems a little lighter than the metal weave. That may be because the carbon fiber seemed a little "glossier". For me the carbon fiber has more Bling and I am a Bling kind of guy. That is also why I ordered the red and black leather. Reminds me of my last Ferrari. I have not heard any word on my order and I hope it is this year as I need the tax deduction. My 2018 43AMG has not died yet!
