New member: GLE 4 Matic under carriage prob
Just dropped off our 2021 GLE 4-Matic (16,000 miles) due to persistent rattling/banging/flapping noise coming from passenger side to the middle console area. It seems to be from the under carriage and you can feel a slight vibration in the drivers seat. Happens at 24-50’s MPH. The tech could hear it, but our GLE has been at the dealer with no idea of causation (only 24 hours.)
Going to check TSB’s, but anybody else had similar odd noise issues?
Thanks in advance.

Does it do it sitting still when you rev the engine? That could be a heat shield making contact with the exhaust. Or does it do it at speed? There are plastic aerodynamic panels on the other side of the vehicle that could be loose, and one of the panels could be flapping against the metal frame where it attaches.
I will call our dealer, talk to my tech guy with your suggestions. Luckily, they have a specific tech that rides w/owner and listens. I didn’t even have to
point it out, he could hear it within 30 seconds into our drive. Does not make the noise revving, just driving 24-55 MPH, sound has worsened until I had to take it in today because I feared being stranded w/o working vehicle on the side of the freeway.
This is our 6th MB in 28 years, quite fond of them. Hoping we can figure this out.
Again, many thanks TexAg91.

Great ideas for my repair tech, thank you!
Appreciate your helpful reply.
Adding these ideas to some other tips and ideas I’ve read in this group.
Hoping the seven suggestions might help identify the noisy problem!
