2025 my next beloved GLE?

Originally had a 2014 ML 350. Then got a 2020 GLE 450. I adore this car. That said, it's paid off and I'm about to graduate grad school. I'd like it to still be worth a good amount when I get the next one, for down payment and all. Any input on the 2025 model? I've noticed it now has Apple AirPlay which they didn't offer in 2020. Any other fun upgrades since then? I like getting her pretty loaded, so would love to hear about any/all features you love/hate, etc! Pics welcome too! I'm partial to the macchiato interior but love thinking about all the possibilities before making my decision. Anything new coming that I should be aware of for value - major body redesign or features coming soon and the like?

MB’s of all kinds.
2025 was the first year of the facelift. So plenty of new design upgrades and colors to choose from. With MB they usually run a 7 year cycle. Maybe just wait until the last year model? Either way you will definitely love the 2025 GLE.

That is incorrect information. The face lift on the GLE was in 2024.

Well, lots changed, from the pre-facelift you are currently driving, the operating system is different, MBUX 1.0 to MBUX 2.0, the headlight and taillights are different, the steering wheel is different. If you view the ordering guides, you will be able to see the changes.

Speaking of facelift, there might be a 2nd facelift but that won't come out anytime soon if that influences' OP's decision at all. https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...-facelift.html

MB has been moving a trim level style with more things packaged together rather then loose and separate. The top Pinnacle trim is probably what you'd be looking at (exclusive trim includes burmester and cooled seats, kind of a must get, but pinnacle adds HUD, massage, upgraded headlights, Air Balance, gestures, etc.) but do note the drivers assist package no longer requires one gets the massage seats and can be had on a more basic spec thankfully. It's been lightly updated since 2020, as has the burmester audio.

Yes, this does help my decision! I would wait a year or two if it was likely about to be updated. That takes a hit to the value when it comes time to sell it IME.
Thank you!

I noticed this on a website buildout I did but wasn't sure if it was mandatory. There were some things I didn't like lumped in. I can't quite remember but I am not a huge fan of the big skyroof (too much light) and I already accidentally touch the touchpad so gestures aren't desirable because I'll probably accidentally be changing things as I drive. Do you know if gestures can be turned off?

Thank you!

Yes gestures can be turned off. It's not related to the track pad. Gestures is simple hand actions to activate certain features. For example, I set up mine to activate the seat massage. Some of the default actions include:
  • When reaching towards the passenger seat or footwell at night, the passenger map lamp will automatically turn on so you can see what you're reaching for.
  • A hand movement towards the underside of the rearview mirror at night will automatically turn on the map light.

How do activate massage with the hand gesture? I have it set up to massage too, but I don't know how to activate it, don't know what gesture or motion I'm supposed to make. The map light does turn on automatically when I reach over to the right, so some sensing is working.

Put a fist 🤜 around 6" above your trackpad/cup holder area and your knuckles are pointed towards your vents and swiftly do a peace ✌️ sign so your two fingers point towards your vents. Once you know the exact area of activation. (the sweet spot) , it's like 90% accurate on detection. Nick O'Leary does his differently (see link below) but it still gives you an idea of it and an overview of this feature. I find that I am able to keep my arm on the center arm rest and still perform the gesture without having to do a dramatic gesture like Nick.

Start at 1:40 mark is the two finger✌️ gesture tutorial. It's worth watching the entirety though and subscribing to his channel as he is the best IMO with providing tips/tricks for new Mercedes owners.

Ok, those actually sound quite useful! Gonna watch the video you posted too, looks really instructive! Thanks! (Oops, sorry, realized I responded to wrong person and cannot figure out how to delete a post here).

I wish there was an option to setup more than one gesture and action. Right now I’m only using the double finger point to turn on the massage seats.

Just in case anyone stops by here to see what I decided, I ordered my 2025 GLE 450 today officially! Should deliver sometime in May for my birthday and graduation from grad school! Went with fully loaded AMG exterior, night package, Obsidian Black w/ Beige Machiatto Leather, and every bell and whistle except the Manufaktur finishes basically. Cannot wait to get her!

Congratulations ! The Machiato Beige interior will look absolutely stunning with the black exterior. What color wood did you opt for ?

And by opting for the night package, even the roof rails will be black, rather than silver colored.
