Looking to buy GLE350
Hi guys!
Liking to buy a 2016 GLE 350 for the wife. We were looking at ML's and saw there are some CPO GLE's out there for only a bit more so that's what we're looking at now.
Anything we should know, look out for? To you guys that have the 16 GLE350's, anything you can share to someone looking at buying one?
Thanks!!!

If you want headlights like your E63 look for a GLE with LED lighting package option else you only get halogen bulbs. Sadly HID Xenon is not available on the GLE.

Good luck on finding a 350 with the lighting package as they are super rare. MB believes that the 350 demographic is OK with the old school halogen so they don't even offer HID or Xenon as standard, in which it is completely unacceptable for a car in this price range. I would save the money and go for a ML as the GLE updates isn't significant enough to provide any real value imo.

I have a 2015 ML250 and it was available (Xenon) as a stand alone. Now its bundled into an expensive package so its not on as many cars sitting on lots. Might be good to look to take over a lease or buy a members car with known history. I know my dealer will be getting a good one with mine, my ML is literally pristine and low miles.

I agree with the lighting package (look for it) but I also had to pay extra for it on my 400 (night package too). But I disagree with the GLE vs ML. My GLE's nav screen seems light years ahead (yes it still needs refinement ) of my wife's '14 E class. The screen is brighter, larger, and even more crisp. It has more options and the center wheel controller (whatever it's called) is nicer and easier to use too. Plus those 2 vents on top of the dash of the ML reminds me of Mickey Mouse ears.
Good luck.
Good luck.

What's the story on the wheels on our car? They don't look like the stock ones, I think I saw somewhere that they came on the 550E? Any info is much appreciated. I did hear they are forged not cast, any truth to this?

I think those are an early wheel that was originally offered but I'm not sure. I've seen them before and I think I saw them once a long time ago when I was looking and building mine. But I have no clue as to how to tell a forged wheel from a cast wheel or which is better.

Those sharp wheels were factory substitutions .. a good # were done when original allocated wheels delivered fell short.... super sharp and can't be ordered that way.. sharp..

Those do indeed appear to be the 550e wheels. At first I was confused because you said you got a 350. lol. Personally, I love the AMG wheels that go with the night package, just not going to pay 3200 for it.

I purchased a 2015 ML350 CPO and feel the CPO is a good deal in that you get a longer warranty and its up to 100,000 mile warranty. I normally run out of warranty on my cars due to excess mileage vs time, so the 100,000 works for me.

Yeah the CPO is a must. The car is technically used but by a couple thousand miles. For your troubles you get $10K off the sticker and an unlimited mileage warranty. Sounds like a deal to me.
The car has that thing where it projects the MBZ star on the ground. Looks cool, wife loves it!

Sorry for not understanding, but what do you mean by "detailing" after you buy a new car? Maybe my English is a problem, but when I buy a new car, I just drive it out of the dealers office. Does it has something to do with sime kind of protection coating someone applies on the surface?

Hi Yavor, it's a good question.
I have OCD with my cars. For example, this car got "detailed" by the dealer before it left. All that means is that they put it through a cheap wash with probably their valet guy, not a detailer, who dried it.
I went through every inch of this car, front to back, inside and out. The paint got the Chemical Guys V38 followed by a good Wax. The grille was detailed with a Qtip, the chrome surfaces waxed and buffed. The interior was cleaned with Zymol leather cleaner, followed by. Zymol leather conditioner. Every fingerprint, every water mark, every smudge, gone.
I'll do this every week because I love cars and appreciate being in a clean one. One day when I sell, the buyer will see this and agree to pay a little bit more because I've kept it as a time capsule.

^ We did nothing, car came like that..?
I was bummed to find out that the chrome strip on the two front bumper air vents is just a chrome strip, not lights. Is that the lighting package you guys are referring to? What's behind that plastic insert anyway? The sports package just has two big holes right?
