Rides like a brick

Is anyone having any issues with the suspension and overall ride quality of a 2021 GLS AMG 63? I’ve tried every setting and even small bumps rattle the entire vehicle. Have 22” rims with only 5300 miles. Tire pressure at 39 psi.

I laughed immediately after reading your thread title Have you considered smaller wheels?

I mean, you're driving the stiffest possible GLS with 22 inch wheels...

In fairness, you did tick the “make it extra stiff” options.

Do you think that would make a big difference?

What are the current tire specs? Namely sidewall.

C450, GLS 63 and a few other things
As noted, it's going to be stiff with the big wheels, the performance tires, and the AMG suspension stuff. One thing that probably will help a little is double check the tire pressures on the fuel door as well. 39 all around seems high. Each individual vehicle is different, but (From memory) think mine is listed for something like 37 front and 35 rear unloaded, and more like 39 all around if loaded (which is 4+ people and luggage.). Mine's at the dealer for regularly scheduled maintenance today, so can't check for sure.

Start with the tire pressure and see if that helps, and if not you can see if you want to size down a wheel or so. My winter tires (on 22's) are a good bit softer than the summers on 23s - which is part size and part the nature of winter versus high performance summer tire.

Finally, it's not impossible that something is malfunctioning in your car...but hard to say as everyone's butt is calibrated differently. I would definitely not say every small bump rattles the entire vehicle for mine. I'm actually surprised at how "livable" it is, but I have other vehicles that are certainly worse, so hard to say if mine is better than yours, or if my tolerance is different.

It's very unlikely, especially with over 5k miles, but make sure the shipping blocks aren't still in place on the suspension.

Thanks guys appreciate all the help. The fuel door says 39 rear and 40 front. I’m going to try and lower it to maybe 35 and see if the tpms doesn’t go bananas and see if that helps.

40/39 regular, or full load? If regular, what's the loaded pressures (or if loaded, what's the regular?)

The TPMS will likely give you a warning at 35 if they are 39 now, but you can reset the level so 35 is "normal" so you don't get the warnings.

My GLS580 with 22 wheels in are 29 psi rear 30 Front tire size is different 325/40/22 and 285/45/22. Rides nice even in Sport.

You should be able to reset the TMPS to suit your liking too

Just checked mine. Vehicles are not the same, so yours may be different, but on mine 40/39 was for over 155 MPH AND fully loaded with 6 people and luggage. 0-155 MPH, with regular load (4 people) on 22 inch tires (I have 23's, but label listed both) was 33 front/31 rear. Even 35 may be too high for you, unless you plan on running over 155 MPH most of the time.

If you want, post the picture of your fuel door label and we can help you find the pressures recommended for you.

I looked on the fuel door and you are correct. I will try the the new pressure. Thanks.
