B3 Service Question
Looking for wisdom of the crowds on this. I am a low-mileage driver. Want to stick with dealer until CPO warranty runs out, so no indie yet.
I have a CPO 2020 GLS 450. Purchased in August 2023 with 39,980. Dealer at that time did the 40K service (multipoint, fine particle filter, dust filter, brake fluid, wiper blades)
I did the A service in May 2024 at 44,660 (Oil change and multipoint).
Been getitng the B3 popup (May 2025) at 50,980. Called two dealers for quotes.

Guess ask a third dealership, third times a charm? and then... the majority wins.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can still take the vehicle to service at a reputable independent even with new car warranty or CPO, you just need to have all the documentations, depending on the state, it is most likely illegal for dealerships to force you to service at a dealership to honour the warranty.

OH MY GOD.... nearly 800 bucks for fluids and filters !!!!!??? Am pretty sure they are throwing in a few other items that nobody needs just to get to that number. I know some clowns willing to pay that much for fluids but am not among them (I did that only once, but I was dumb enough to not ask for the service A fees before I dropped keys). We had that debate on the forum before; don't listen to those who will try to convince you it should be 700-800 USD for oil and filters. Take it to an europ indy shop/expert and save more than half of that. A fair dealer would charge less too. Also, BMW as an example, charges exactly 150 USD for that same annual services covering oil and all fluids top-off plus full diagnosis and car check, and just a tiny more if you include brake fluid flush (it was another 120 USD for my X5).
In all cases, as forum colleague W205C43PFL suggested, review the services per the maintenance manual, and specifically ask for what you need. I wouldn't even mention service A or B or whatever... I'd get them itemized list of specific items you need and ask them to not include anything else until they call you.

I wonder if they also throw in things like fuel additive or injector cleaners (which well, unnecessary, snake oil? Just use Top Tier fuel) hence that price?

lol I agree.. They probably assume that the free coffee and water bottles worth the extra charge... But hey, like I said, many people would still fall for that scheme and pay dealers that amount.

Spark plugs are part of the 5yr/50k and since you're still under warranty (via CPO), I'd do it. Dealer 1 is correct except they didn't mention engine air filters. Dealer 2 is basing the work order on B3 so they are also correctly quoting you but maybe it's because you didn't mention you have a 2020 with 50k miles and instead asked for a B3? B3 is incorrect for your year and miles. It should be A3:

2015 MB S550 & 2020 MB GLS 450
As another data point, in the next few weeks I'm up for the 50k service with Engine air filter, Spark Plugs, and wiper replacement. My dealer quoted $1,037. They will add additives, and perform Xentry & Midtronics for total $1,250.
My A service last year was $253.

There are a lot of opinions posted above, based on no information and guesses.
What specifically was included in those quotes?
You could go back and tell each of them that you're Price Shopping and see how they respond.
Most dealers have a "minimum service" menu, and others might offer "just an oil change" without the recommended (required for warranty?) inspections.
Or just ask for the cheapest service, if that's what you're looking for.
But without more information all we get is guesses.

Same here. 150 USD is what it should be, and 250 USD is the max I'd pay including other minor items like filters for regular annual service for Service A or Schedule-A. Anyone paying more than this range when the intention is just to get the recommended annual service (oils and filters) + dealer inspection has no idea that his dealer has taken advantage of him and have no idea what he is paying for. If they dealer is labeling the service as (Service A) then it doesn't matter what the add-ons are cause they shouldn't be allowed to add random items and still refer to it as (A service). These add-ons should be illegal when the service is labeled as formal Service-A or Schedule-A while not matching Mercedes definition. All BMW dealers charge a fair and accurate 150 USD for their annual service including inspection, detailed walkaround video, tires pressure and thread check + free top-off for all fluids. I paid same exact amount for all my recent cars, 530e, X5, X7, B8, with 3 different dealers. Mbenz is enjoying how uninformed and naieve their customer base is with these 600-800 USD charges!

Just know that when you (anyone) sign the repair order, you (anyone) are authorizing the repairs. It shouldn't be a surprise if you pay attention.
On the other hand, it seems criminal that BMW charges $150 for their free service.

Whatever the state, though, they can only exceed the quoted amount by getting authorization via a phone call, message or email, that's notated on the repair order.
The important thing is to realize that it's an actual "Not to exceed" quote that you are authorizing, and also agreeing to pay the charge.
Edit- It's just like getting a re-roof on your house, or hiring a painter.
