What's your best speeding ticket story?
Whether you talked your way out of a speeding ticket, got one doing 150, or have another good speeding ticket story, post it here.
In 1987, I was pulled over in my RX7 Turbo II doing 127 in a 45....by three cop cars.
A few years later, a cop followed me in my Ferrari Mondial convertible for about three miles. I used my turn signals, never exceeded the speed limit, etc., etc... He pulled me over, walked up to to me and said, "You didn't do anything wrong, I was just admiring your car. Is this the new Fiero?"
After not having gotten a ticket in years, I got a ticket doing ten miles over the limit on the way home after buying my CL.
I know you guys must have better speeding ticket stories than that.
Post them here.

Your current vehicle suggests you still have the speed bug. I don' think you would be as lucky today talking your way out of an 85 in a 15.

he imediately turns on his radar gun, lights, siren the works! My detector goes off way to late! and he puills me over, gets out of his car laughing...says that I should have seen my face when I spotted him "Yeah Right I'm thinking" tells me that he was riding right next to me for a few miles before I spotted him. ticket cost a days work and $345. That just ain't right!
The road i was on has farm land on either side but he was sitting behind a big truck and i didnt see him untill i blew by him. To this day when ever anyone asks have i been pulled over they think i am joking about this story but luckily i had 3 friends with me and all doubts go away when they ask them.
So lets see 140 in a 55 = not good ! By this time I turned to the Gospel station ( because I need a prayer for this one ) and the cop comes up and ask for my info ! I give to him and I see the other driver pull off ! I thinking OK lets get it on ( I will be the one to go down for all of this ) . He comes back to the car and tell me all the laws we broke and how he was basically trying to catch up to us the entire time , and that I was free to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess that prayer came in handy.... Will I do it again ? Not in my car I wont , maybe on the motorcycle
The other ticket I got was on Hwy 5 and Jamboree in Irvine, CA recently. This a**hole pulled me over; gave me a ticket for reckless driving, not wearing a seat belt, passing on the right, and speeding!! (22 miles over the limit) Had to hire a lawyer; paid the fines (~700including the court and lawyer fee); On top of that got a huge lecture from my wife... As if that's the last thing I needed!!
I had gotten a similar ticket in Long Island right off the southern state parkway back in the days (1990-1991) Driving a twin-turbo Rx-7 coming back from riverhead... 55 MPH speed limit going @ 110MPH and passed an unmarked chevy caprice... Soon as he started following me, I knew I was in trouble... It's a 2-seater car but I had my buddy in it with his GF sitting on his lap... obviously not wearing a seat belt... expired registration... tinted windows (more than 35% allowed at the time in NY) and had a cool switch blade in the car (I collect knives); The rest is history.... Got arrested... spent an hour in jail... car got towed... friend bailed me out for $100; Finally got it cleard from my record $5000 and 6 months later... NY cops are also a**holes!!
The sheriff gets out, listens to the CHP yelling how he couldn't catch me and had to use Motorola to get help (the Sheriff). The sheriff starts laughing, looks at the CHP and says "look's like you have a problem with your car" turns to me and says "what are you running in the vette?" We chat while the CHP cools off, writes me up for 89. Malibu courthouse and a fine...expensive, but the interagency rivalry...priceless.

..the officer says "The calls say u exceeded about 130mph and was terrorizing other motorists by cutting them off *blah blah blah* I was pretty pissed but nicely explained that I had my cruise control on and theres no way that ever happened, so the a**hole says "ok well i'm not going to give you a ticket for that, just for the double solid you crossed out of the carpool lane" yes, the same one I crossed to get out of his way..long story short he gave me the ticket, I fought it in court and easily won, and the officer left the courthouse VERY pissed..someone got a ticket THAT day! :p Anyway that's my story..oh and the officers name was Pevee..
I pass by a car going the opposite direction, then he makes a U-turn across the median, and turns on the red and blue. At this point, i'm about 1/4 mile ahead of him, and I'm feeling bold.
Luckily there was an exit ramp a few yards away, so i take it...make a right turn, then a left, then another left, and turn off my lights. I was in some small subdivision where the houses are spread out. My heart is pounding, and just when i thought i was safe, i see the lights! oh F!
i turn on my hazzards ( i dont know why i did). Cop gets out of his car, comes to my window, and says,"hey, where ya goin'?" I joke that i was waiting for him in the subdivision.
He tells me to get out of the car, asks if there's anything he should know about in the trunk, and puts me in the back of his car. I try talking my way out of the ticket, saying how because i was going over 25mph over the limit i would lose my license ( I was under 21 and GA traffic laws are strict). i ask him to please reduce the speed. Not happening.
As he's writing the ticket, another cop shows up, tells him he should bust me on trying to evade an officer, and then drives off shaking his head.
I get 90 in a 65 ticket. Didnt reduce it at all.
A month later, I call the NC courthouse to try changing my courtdate. THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THE TICKET!! I waited, called again a few days before my courtdate. NO RECORD OF THE TICKET!!
The cop musta lost it or thrown it away or the court lost it.
According to MapsOnUs, the 297.2 mile trip should take 4 hours 18 minutes.
My calculation is that 297.2 miles could be covered in 2 hours 37 minutes at an average speed of about 110 mph (with no stops). If you figure in a 10 minute stop for gas, then the average speed would be about 119 mph.
Looking back, it is miraculous that I didn't get a ticket, or worse.
