SLK55 vs 997C4S
My girl an i were on our way to meet some freinds for dinner, and what pull up next to me at the stoplight but a new C4S! Light turned green and i got a near perfect launch with just a small about of wheelspin through first!
By 60 i had pulled so my rear bumper was just over 1/2 of a car length ahead of his front bumper...had to shut it down right away due to traffic but it was a great quick kill...

Vette: no, unfortunatley not...I need to do that soon...problem is in know i will be hooked and want to go all the time!!!!
Jangy: I pulled 1/2 car length on ths start as i got a near perfect start and pulled to 1.5 car lengths by 60...i could tell i wasn't going to pull much more...
JMF: I agree with the mftg numbers you quote but per many sources SLK55 does 0-200kmh in 16.8-17.6s, per trackchallenge it does it in 16.8 sec also while a 997S(not C4, which is about .3-.4 sec slower to 60) does it in 16.0 sec...so with a good jump you could hold off a 997s or 997C4S to 120+...

drivers race.. they are very close in performance....
7sp AMG auto is hard to beat, unless the oponent is a very skilled driver.
From a roll, it would be a bit different.. The P cars really like to run.

Thanks Yellow R1...
I have been practicing modulating my burnouts(can modulate first gear between 5 and 6k now for about 3 car lengths then 2nd for another 2 or 3 carlengths!!!) as i try to burn off the tires in <6k miles...almost there!!! I think this practice in modulatiing has helped with my dig starts...i got basically a perfect jump and just a hint of wheel spin through first but ZERO triangle flash!!! this gave me 1 length on the guy that i pulled to 1.5 or so by 60...
One of the best runs ive had!!!

Good kill
I recently lined up against an SLK55 at the lights, I fluffed my start allowing him to pull almost 2 car lengths at the start, we were then level to about 80mph and was starting to gain a little before a fixed speed camera made us shut-down. The 1st-2nd gearchange for the slk was especially impressive seeming to take no time at all.
I was 4 up in the 911, he was 2 up.
i need a 996tt

Oh yeah want to add something here......any c5 or c6 will kill the AMG 55 with out the s/c....... any c5 or c6 ZO6 will kill AMG55 with the s/c....... I see that really often at the LACR Palmdale........ another thing I don't think the P.car 997 really race the SLK55....... because the 997 will walk away from the SLK55 anytime.......

And no, a C5 is not going to pull an SLK55 (you mentioned any N/A AMG 5.5L powerplant), nor is a C6 (an MN6 is pretty even, but traps a bit faster than the SLK55). A C5 ZO6 or a C6 ZO6 will pull an SLK55 (the C6Z will absolutely rape it - its a mid 11 sec car & traps 127 mph).

you are right a C5 won't beat a SLK55, but a minor modded one will and im sorry but a MN6 C6 will pull a SLK55, especially up top. the power to weight ratio is just to great, better gearing helps but not enough

Still not convinced? How about this: The 400-hp Corvette in a recent comparo ["It's-All-About-Me Roadsters," C/D, March 2005] outguns this SLK55 by 45 horsepower and 24 pound-feet of torque, and weighs 155 fewer pounds. Yet the Vette ties the SLK at 4.3 seconds to 60 mph and loses the quarter-mile race by a 10th, 12.8 versus 12.7 seconds. And that was a six-speed manual Corvette, not the wimpy four-speed automatic.

For instance: Car&Driver whips out this data on how the C6M was bested by a tenth @ 12.8 Wouldn't it be funny if 1 of those BONE STOCK C6 w/A4's came that day to, and ran there 12.5xx it is possible, You yourself reported this info & I've seen there Timeslips over @ CorvetteForum.com
It's all Subjective & you hate the idea of Mercedes bested by a Chevy so much you have to Impregnate every thread you see, w/your BS Next week you'll see what a C6 A4 w/3.15's can do
