C63 vs 5.0 Mustang
Andy

Just to add a few more details, I had a full car, 5 people total, he had at least 1 passenger I think, couldn't see see if anyone was in the back.
I was in sport-manual, ESP on.
I can't say for sure, but I might've still been in 2nd when I gunned it.
I was too much in the moment, lol.

FTR, the 5.0s (im guessing this was a foxbody too) have been out for a while.....giving people a lot of time to mod them and they are dirt cheap to mod compared to the MBs. my buddy's 5.0 Foxbody is running a 12 flat at 117 or 118......on 91 octane......in Tucson, AZ at 80+ temps at 4000 DA. just to give you an idea.
When a car weighs <3k lbs, it doesn't take a lot of HP to go fast. That, and 5.0s are cheap and easy to make TONS of power with.
For < $10k you can get an old fox-body 5.0 and run 10s with it.
It'd still be a POS rustang, but it'd be fast.
Note by a car length, I'm going by my front bumper right on their rear bumper = 1, so by 2 I mean 1 car space in between. Not sure if I was using the proper terminology.

Second of all, no car that has ever been described as "madd cute" has ever won a race in the history of racing.

What are you doing racing anything with 5 people in the car?
Do you still have the stock Pirelli's on? If so with the ESP off in first gear you would just torched those piece of ***** tires. Those are the first thing I would ditch if your going to play like this on the road. Not to mention if you go ahead with the Kleemann ECU it will only make the situation worse. Next time ESP Sport, trans in sport shift to first gear, mash throttle at green light.
I didn't plan on getting on him at all, even at the first red where he kept creeping up and revving his engine. I didn't change my mind until the road cleared a little and I saw him next to me still trying to get me to go, but by then it was kinda late to change anything.

And everyone knows that when it comes to 5.ohs, you never and I mean never know what you are up against. It could be some guy with a stock 205hp 5.0 that thinks it's the fastest thing on earth or it could be a 10 second street fighter.
Don't race with people in your car though, unless it's one guy who signed up for it when he jumped in.

It is just as easy for a mustang owner to say, " with all that technology and R&D, my simple pushrod motor beat that dumbass."

Would I rather have the C63? well hell yeah, but I'm just saying.
It is just as easy for a mustang owner to say, " with all that technology and R&D, my simple pushrod motor beat that dumbass."And 90% of the fox-bodies I see are in total disarray... mismatching body panels, cracked bumpers, filthy, torn up interiors, etc.
It's possible (and likely) that the people on your Mustang forums took good care of their cars, but it's not the norm. The same goes for any 80's/early 90's muscle car... 5.0, Corvette, Z28/Trans Am, etc. They are iconic, cheap, can be made to go VERY fast, but are still relative POSs outside of the engine bay due to time and negligence. Well-kept examples are the exception, not the norm. I wish that wasn't the case, because as a baby of the 80's, I love them. I'm more of a Chevy guy, but can still respect the 5.0 fox-bodies and the SC'd Cobras for what they are.
If it was a Fox 5.0 then it had to have a ton of mods cause those are not that fast. But with a little elbow grease and some parts can be made to be fast.
I ran thru Mexico one day and a friend in his C55 with a car load of 4 total adults in the car tried to race my little 2.0 liter turbo car which is clearly a slower car but not by much (it normally traps a 14 flat ET at 100-103mph and is really strong on the topend). Due to his extra dead weight, I crawled all over him. The look on his stunned face was priceless to say the least.
