New Owner as of tonight / Extended Warranty Question

My wife and I went to test drive the ML350 and ended up negotiating a great deal tonight. Long story short, we are the proud new owners of a black/black ML350. Pickup is tomorrow. Got the Premium 1 package, lighting, trailer hitch, running boards, rear seat pre-wired for screens, and heated front seats.

When I bought my E55 a few years back, several of us had bought our extended warranty from the Chico dealership for a cut rate price. I tried to negotiate a good price tonight from the finance lady, but didn't really get more than 10% off.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a dealership willing to make a great deal on the extended warranty, esp since you can buy the warranty from any dealership?

Thanks,
N

Me too

+1 - I'm also interested - just got mine day before yesterday. 10 years ago I did a group buy/discount where we found a dealer that sold the $3000 factory warranty to us for $1600.

A local dealer wants $3500 for 7 years/75k miles or $4600 for 7 years/100k and thats already allegedly 15% off.

I'm interested in the details also.

We are considering a new ML. Our R was 24 hrs away from finishing it's extended warranty. Long story short - loud grinding sound, $8500, all covered by the warranty, 24hrs safe.

What is the latest on discounted extended warranties

I have a 2007 ML going out of warranty soon and the car has been awesome, but I still remember getting more than double my money back on the 99 ML320 extended warranty (discount buy).

While the car has been almost perfect and we do plan to keep it a long time, I worry about (very) expesnsive repairs once it is out of warranty. I also question whether it is worth the cost to get the extended warranty, but the piece of mind could be worth it.

I would certainly consider it if the discounted price was right.

Please advise what discounts you know about. Thank you.

I just bought an 08 ML550 and I'm hoping to purchase some piece of mind.

TIA!

I would also be interested in prices people are getting quoted and in probably getting one as I will be getting a 2011 bluetec towards the end of May.

From the one referenced thread it seems the one woman no longer works at that dealer or I would have just emailed her.

Thanks.

Lisa has reportedly left and the dealer no longer offers it out of their area.

Some people claim they call 6 regional dealers and get 6 different prices. I'd try that. Other people mention Jesse Medrano (530) 230-3165

I just bought a CPO with 4 years and 100k miles, so I'm not in the market.

Just bought a CPO'd ML550. MB has extended maximum coverage to 7 yrs. / 135,000 miles for the MB Extended Warranty, and buying this extended coverage was a no-brainer given how long we plan to keep this awesome vehicle. In shopping for the vehicle, all of the MB dealers I spoke with were quoting identical prices for the extended CPO warranty coverage.

Do you have to buy the extended warranty at the time of purchase?

I was told by the dealer that I could buy it later, but it would cost more. Perhaps during the original warranty and not the CPO. I didn't ask.

I was thinking more like 3-5 months after purchase, would one still be able to buy extended warranty on the newly purchased car? This would be on a new car no CPO

I'm pretty sure that if you're the original owner and the vehicle is still under the original factory warranty, they will be willing to sell you an extended service contract. It may be somewhat different from an extension of the MBCPO warranty, though, since you're not dealing with a CPO vehicle. Any "finance" or "business manager type at a MB dealership ought to be able to answer questions about this. These are the guys who walk you through the signing your loan or lease documents.

Do you mean that your vehicle is covered for a total of 8 years and 100k miles including the basic 4 years and 50k miles?

In other words, you got an additional 4 years on top of the original 4 years?

The CPO warranty added a year to the factory warranty and extended it to 100k miles. Since the car had been put into service by the dealer as a courtesy car for 6 mo. I had over 4 years up to 100k miles. It had 5800 miles on it when I bought it and I typically put around 19k miles on my car per year.

I can help you with excellent extended warranties at good prices. I can provide references from members on this forum and others.

Just shoot me an email to brucem105@comcast.net, and I'll need your car's VIN# and current odometer reading. Then I can reply with full information and accurate pricing.

Thanks.

Got a quote for additional MB warranty. additional 4 yrs and additional 48k miles. Nearly $8k.

(even the mercedes guy thought it was really really high...)

For reference, my 2008 ML550 is currently on year 3 of the original factory warranty and at 27k miles.

Just as an FYI, as I previously posted, the Mercedes CPO warranty and the extended warranty that you can buy with it is NOT an exclusionary coverage contract (exclusionary coverage is also typically referred to as "bumper to bumper"). This means that if a part is not specifically listed in the coverage contract, it is not covered. On the other hand, the regular Mercedes ELW that you can add to your original factory warranty IS an exclusionary coverage contract. So far, the only thing that I've noticed that's excluded from the non-CPO ELW that's included in the original 4/50K coverage is batteries and appearance items.

This is not to say that the CPO and CPO-ELW coverage is bad. It is to say, however, that it is WAY less comprehensive than the non-CPO ELW, which I thought was rather surprising. What's even more surprising, at least to me, as that if you are buying your car as a CPO, you do not have the option of adding the much more comprehensive non-CPO ELW to it.

In other words, people who are posting about the advantages of MB's extended warranties need to make sure that they understand very significant differences between MB's ELW for non-CPO's and CPO vehicles. The latter, while still decent, are much more limited than a lot of people realize and are far inferior to the former.
