Choose 19" or 20" Wheels?

I can't decide whether to upgrade to the 20". Does it make a difference to the ride?. If so, which is better?

I have the 20" with my ML350. Just the regular suspension, and it rides great. Plus, it looks good.

2014 Mercedes ml350 bluetec
I just got my 2014 ml350 bluetec 4matic. It has regular suspension , and the 19" stock wheels. Rides FABULOUS !
I want to upgrade to a custom classy asanti rim but not sure if a 21" rim with 295/35/21 or 285/35/21 would be better and will still give same luxury smooth ride.
OR
A 20" rim w/ 285/35/21 or 285/40/21 Or. 295/35/20
I like the width but don't want it to stick out past fender walls. And want to keep the fabulous feel of smooth ride.
The 2014 AMG 63 has stock 295/35/21 wheels and I love the look. I was wondering if the ride is as good as the stock 19's on my ml350 and would that same size wheels on the AMG63
Work fine on my ml350 .

Can anyone help me with some advice ???

Last edited by tonyabarry1; 11-24-2013 at 01:10 AM. Reason: Made mistake on question on 20" rims. I meant 20" rim w/ either 285/35/20 , 285/40/20. Or 295/35/20

for 21" you need airmatic, ride will be harsh with 21"+ wheels.
I have 20"s on the regular steel springs and it still rides pretty good, but i can definetely tell the difference vs an ML with 19"s.

20" tire size with width that give a great smooth ride????

If 21" wheels with 285/30 or 285/40 tires and it gives a slight rough ride by what I have read on forums ....And 20's ride better ......
If I go 20" wheels , what tire size will give me a very good smooth ride but still gives me some masculine width in the tire .
Would something like a 285/45/20 work or can anyone help me out with your options .

I have the optional 20" wheels on my 350 bluetec. The tires are 265/45/20. I love the 20" wheels. Rides and handles great.

It appears Costco dont stock the 20" tyres for the ML so that might persuade me to go with the 19

Corey question specifically for you if you dont mind. I am also going for the 2014 in Black

1. Did you consider the Chrome hood fins and Chrome door handle inserts?. I cant decide.

We decided against anymore chrome. My wife didn't care for it. She wanted the running boards which she uses every time she gets in. We did get a 3M clear bra over the entire front hood and front bumper which I think is a good investment.

I have 212 rim and airmatic comfort ,it gives me a great ride , but I have damaged the tyres and rims by hitting the kerb many times, as quite a low profile get damaged . Certanily Looks better then
19 and 20 inch .Comfort Ride No issues ll at. at least not noticeable.

ml350 bluetec
I have the 20" with all-season radials (265/45/20), looks great, handles great even in snow. I just installed 19" (265/?/19) Michelin winter tires & rims, which look good and don't handle worth a damn in deep snow, but are okay on compressed snow & ice.
In deep snow, the rear end keeps trying to pass the front end and I can get that on a rear wheel drive quite effectively, especially with a 455 cu. in. V-8 in my 1970 Oldsmobile.

Obsidian black. I love it. I have an older CLK that is obsidian black, so we knew what it would look like since you don't see many on the road.

OK....so i wanted to upgrade to the Sports Package but after seeing the 19" 5 spoke wheels that come with it yesterday i really hate the wheels . An option is to go to the "Sport Package Plus" (which have different wheels) but no dealers have these to view. Does anyone have these wheels/photos?. TIA

A gaggle of MB's
You're "kidding" right ?

mbusa.com under Build - use exterior options, and Sport Package or Sport Plus Package - flip between the two..

Your "dealers" must think you are a lookie/lu... they can also pull out pdf sheet from the dealer guide and email to you...

Keep the beat !

Not kidding. The pictures on the mbusa website are poor and nowhere near as realistic as owner photos.

Re. lookie/lu comment. I like to make sure im 100% on my packages before i sign $70k. Making spec changes after sign off impossible in my experience.

No idea what 'keep the beat' means.

Just stick with OE tire measures. No need to increase sidewall or width, that will make the car drive worse.

For some reason you cant order 21"s w/o airmatic
