Some advice on my ML550 would be greatly appreciated!
Hope everyone is doing well. I am looking to get aftermarket filters for my ML550. Can you guys guide me on which one to go with?
Here is the K&N:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?prod=33-2474
And here is the BMC filter link:
http://us.bmcairfilters.com/car-filt...-01_d65_5.aspx
If you guys could let me know, that would be great. Planning on getting one of the 2. Just would like to which one to go with. Then after i install the filters and see how the car drives, i will make my descicion if i should go with a tune also or not.
Thanks guys!

Any filter that lets in more air will also let in more dirt. See the attached article. Do you really want to do that to your engine?

Also the oil on the K&N has a better than average possibility of fouling your MAF sensor.
Not in my car! However, the decision is obviously yours to make.

I HIGHLY doubt those air filters alone will make any noticeable difference. Christ I hardly ever get a chance to put my foot to the floor in my 550 (you better have a lot of open road ahead when you do).
If you are looking for more power though check out RENNtech.

What is the best / preferred weight oil for my ML550 with 100k miles?
Live in Wisconsin, and winter has begun.
There seems to be a lot of opinions on this.
Is there anything wrong with a good, name brand Synthetic 5W30 oil?
Thanks!

I used to get these filters too, all they are is extra work of re oiling every so often.
,they give you an interesting sound but no noticeable performance gains.
Don't waste your time

I never used them for performance gain, but rather economy and conservation in a vehicle I kept for 10 years.
After washing them, you need to leave them for up to a day to dry, so you'll need to hang on to an old filter anyway, or park the vehicle.
not something I would use in my ml550.

I've installed the BMC filters on my GL63. Any uptick isn't really noticed in normal driving but mentally I like having them there. I can see the logic in why they should be better based on the design alone (do a search of my install).
I have used these on all of my motorcycles and for sure can feel a difference.
They are also used in aviation with success.
