There are 4 small screws that you need to remove in the center console and 2 big ones. You'll see this all in the illustration of the model I mentioned above. Then you only need to remove the back piece (with the ac vents) to remove the entire center console. There are 6 small screws altogether and you will need to detach the electronic connections. Once you do this correctly you should be able to remove the center console and be able to see underneath where the missing spring that holds the latch.
Mine was entirely broken besides the missing spring so I decided just to replace the entire armrest (part number166-680-41-03-9H15) Cost me $311.00 Dealership was charging me almost twice as much.
I just make a little hole with a burn or you can heat a piece of metal, and place it iside of the plastic broke base. You will need de original spring or similar. Good look

I found the item selling at ebay. I payed $22 shipped from china or hong kong
"Right Armrest Box Buckle Lockers Switch Clip For Mercedes ML320 ML350 GL400 W166"
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Right-Armrest-Box-Buckle-Lockers-Switch-Clip-For-Mercedes-ML320-ML350-GL400-W166/164016271480
part # I see on the package is 166 680 4103-R
I hope somebody can model it to the 3d printable but, anyway I fixed this with only $22, there is another site that sell the part about $70. of course it is very expensive for the part size but it saves me a lot of money.
I am finally happy with this fix after 2-3 years with right arm always open and taping was not a solid solution.
1. remove the rubber mat from the rear bottom tray
2. unscrew the two bolts revealed with tork #20
3. unlatch the tray with two/three paper method
4. unscrew the two bolts with tork #20 accessible after laying down the tray
5. unlatch the rear plastic console frame from the top hook inside the plastic rear console frame.
6. uncrew #15 tork aside of the cable connector
7. uncrew two screwes #25 or #30(not sure) inside of storage bottom(you would need a impact wrench and long extension), 4 screws #20 as well.
8. raise up the storage and you can access the latch.
probably the spring is gone hard to find, but the item I purchase from ebay also has the spring.
when assemble back, the hard part was to latch back the tray of rear console. I used two or three papers to latch the tray without breaking anything.
I know this thread is quite old but I bet somebody someday looking exact same information will be benefited. not sure if the item would still be on sale at that time though.
double post in other thread as well to be a help to somebody.

For now, I'll just use velcro to hold the cover down until I found someone who could fix it at a cheaper rate.

This was performed on a 2014 Mercedes Benz ML 350 center console to repair the mechanism responsible for latching the passenger half of the center console armrest/compartment door. See the attached document for step-by-step images of how to gain access to the latch. I didn't show the final steps because once all the screws marked in the pics are removed, then the compartment can be pulled out of the console and the mechanism becomes clearly accessible. I couldn't have done it without myanonmbw's description below: combine that with my pics and this job shouldn't take you more than an hour or so. Thanks to everyone who contributed, hope this helps to tie things together.
As for the part I used, I found it on ebay pretty easily for $23. I would have posted the link here but I bought the last one from that specific seller. There were a lot of other identical parts from other sellers at a similar price if you search with the following info-
Part description: 1Pair L+R For Mercedes-Benz W166 W292 X166 GL Center Console Armrest Latch Clip
Cost ~~ $23
Shipping took 2-3 weeks as it came from China.
This kit came with latches for both sides but I only needed one. Make sure you buy a clip with the spring included. Some threads I read people tried to find the lost spring within the console with a lot of hassle and without much success.
I believe the only tools I used were a flathead screwdriver (for prying) and T15 and T25 Torx screwdriver bits. Be careful when putting the screws back in because they are in precarious places and if they fall they will be lost forever. Best to use a magnetic bit holder or something.
Good luck!
