I like the mods on you ML. What year is it. Also, where did you get the grill . One other question, I noticed you have black rocker panel, but the lower part of the rear bumper is white. Mine 2015 Ml came with running boards which I replace with black, OEM rocker rocker, ( I then had them painted and clear vinyl wrap) but still have the black showing in the rear. Would like to have them body color like AMG version.

thanks

It may look like the rear is lower than the front because there is less room between the top of the tires and the fender-wells front and back. But if you look at the distance between the rockers front and rear, they're the same. Remember now, I dropped only the rear.
Yes, she's wrapped. Not my personal favorite colour, but the wife loves it. Probably because it's close to the colour of her X6 in Vermilion Red.

In any case, happy wife, happy life...

Cant agree with you more. Happy wife happy life

Did you find it hard to maintain the ML after it wrap ? Does it look weird when you open the door and see 2 colors(White and Red)? How much does it cost you if you don't mind me asking? I want to wrap mine in satin white in future if I have the cash

Maintaining it isn't an issue but if I had to do it again.....I wouldn't.

Why? Simple. We wrapped a white vehicle red. Any rock chips etc will show up right away. To the point where we had a clear wrap done on the leading edge of the hood, which takes the biggest beating.
The other area is at the rear of the wheel-wells. I purchased mudflaps from a loser on Ebay who sent me the wrong ones, still waiting (5 months later) from him to make things right.
And no, seeing the white when you open the doors is no biggie. A less-professional wrapper doesn't go in`enough past the doors, so you`d see the base colour through the gaps (been there, done that). But a good wrapper makes sure that you don`t see the base colour with the doors closed.

You can`t go wrong with yours, it`d be a white wrap on a white vehicle. BTW, see the pic of our front grille, we wrapped the chrome strips. I don`t believe in tons of chrome but IMHO, a little bit accents the vehicle.

Thanks! And as far as price is concerned, I paid $4k for the wrap including tinting the front windows and the tail-lights.
I just reached out to the same wrapper for pricing to wrap a new Dodge Ram & a GMC Savana for our fleet, he's now at $3k/each. Not bad...

Possibly. Personally not a fan of the texture of PlastiDip, seems to be harder to clean as well. At least on my winter mags, they don't seem to wash off as well as a painted/wrapped surface.

Hello. you have a part number for this cover? As mine is missing and not know what to search for.
Thanks.

P.s. read all your stuff, i'm astonished how you manage such a good mileage with this engine. I have 12l/100 km at an average speed of 36 km/h

Sorry i don't have the part number. OM642 is a really good engine. It has it problem, like the oil seals, throttle body vavle and etc. For most part, with proper tune and delete the emission stuffs, you can get great power and fuel efficiency from it.

This is the engine front cover, correct?

A6420105667 or
A6420105012

If you post your VIN one of us can get the right number.

With the VIN you posted, EPC says the cover in the photo is not for your vehicle. Is there a reason you believe there should be one on your vehicle? Did you take that photograph?

The photo is from GLK Super Fan.
Now that you mention , i've also have trailer hitch, maybe this is the reason why my car is missing this cover, to enter more air to the engine.
P.s i've bought the car 2nd hand.
Anyway, thanks a lot, this clears my thoughts of that part.

Did a quick oil change today, along with changing the carbin airfilters and engine airfilters. Man, the engine airfilters are PITA!! Special the back screws. I highly recommend for people doing it with the back cover off. All you need just take off two extra bolts, then you will have a lot more room to work on when changing the airfilters.

+1 for ikea funnel. It worked perfect. Today is my first time mixed 4 different brand of engine oil. Hopefully oil is oil

I always find it hard to get to this special menu. Everytime it takes me few tries

+1 for MANN filter. Really like their filter. Honestly cant can any difference compare to the OEM

Yeahhh another 15,000km. I always have the intention to do it earlier, but life gets way too busy

Oh man, it really due for a change

These two filters stuck in there pretty good. You really have to give a good pull

My aftermarket replacement filters from fcp euro

New filters installed. Somehow i cant get the filter paper gap evenly, i i will check how it goes on my next oil change. I honestly think MB are over kill with triple filters

Also replaced two blown fuse from previous owner. Cigarette lighter and 120v outlet for back seats

Love this fuse location, so easy to access

Hi Super Fan, have you cleaned your injectors with an additive or directly from the fuel filter? How about cleaning the carbon build-up in the intake manifold? Last fall I had Sam (in Calgary) code off NOx, AdBlue, and SCR and the car hesitates a lot in low rpms. Sam recommended fuel injector cleaning and deep cleaning of intake manifold.

I haven't done it on my ml yet, but i have done it on my glk250. My glk250 was idling rough during start up, but once the car warms up, the car will drive normal. After using the injector cleaner, it helped out a lot. Bur now, i have to use fuel additives from time to time to clean my injector clean

Having update the build thread for a while. Recently I changed the front brake rotors and pads due to uneven wear. Man those 21mm caliper knuckle bolts are PAS to remove! I was so worry i will brake them, but thank god, it came out nicely. There are lots of useful information online when changing the front brake and special thanks to member geniushanbiao helped me out to figure out the correct parts for my pads and rotor. I didn't know that mine has the AMG sports package before, but he confirmed for me, which is pretty nice 350mm rotors are heavy! I had a little incident with the pad sensor bolt I broke it off by accident. Thank god my friend came over and helped me drill it out.

Here is the link for my caliper bolts broke off incident

https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...013-ml350.html

I ordered the brake rotors from Tdot performance, great online auto parts store, highly recommended!

https://www.tdotperformance.ca/

I then ordered the pads for FCP euro, another great website to order parts!

Then you also need to get the replacement rotors screws and Knuckle bolts since they are not re-useable. And after man handle to take off those bolts, i can see why they are not re-useable.I couldn't find my receipt from the dealership, once i find it, i will upload it in here so I can have a copy and share the part numbers with everyone.

Here is the before pictures

You can see the deep grooves on the rotor and the caliper is kinda rusted badly !

Now here are some of the pictures that I took while I was changing the brake

Awesome canadian tire bucket to hold the caliper, that way, it will not stress the brake line

Make sure you give a good clean where the pads is gonna sit on. I used a wire brush and a drill to clean my out

I quickly wrapped mine with some left over carbon fiber wrap from vvivid. I believe you can get the proper caliper wrap, so far, mine is holding pretty good

Now here is comes the haters. After I wrapped the plate carbon fiber, i put some caliper decal on. I will see how i feel If I don't like it, i can just rip it off in 2 seconds

here is how the rear brake looks like with the Honda Civic mod + 5HP

And it about time to put back the summer wheel on. It actually looks pretty good

I do get mine is not an AMG vehicle, but i actually like how it look now, very aggressive. Too bad i don't have time to paint my calipers, otherwise it will look so much better. Damn kids and wife :S

Overall, i will rate this brake job moderate difficult. Make sure you have all the sockets and tools you need before you start this DIY project. I am planning to sell my OEM rims cheap local in Calgary Alberta. If anyone looking for a set of OEM rims for winter tires, mine will work perfect

nice update. mine is a 2014 ml350bt with the sport package, here are the part numbers i have from when i did my front brakes...
Front Rotor Set screw 220 421 01 71
Front brake wear sensor 164 540 10 17
Brake fluid dot 4 plus 1L 000 989 08 07 13
i didnt replace the bolts, didnt see anywhere on any of the guides i found that the bolt should be replaced.

i installed the powerstop Z36 truck/tow kit with their rotors and pads. besides a bit of squeek in the winter until the brakes warm up, im super happy with them, stopping power is great and very little brake dust.

let us know how yours are stopping power and brake dust wise.

I found the information for replacing the bolts on this discussion

https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w166/701111-brake-job-torque-specs.html

Torque Spec for the front brake job

Rotor screw is 10nm
Caliper bracket to knuckle is 80nm + 45 degrees
Guide pin is 55nm

The rotor screw and the caliper bracket bolts have encapsulated sealant on them and must be replaced every time. The guide pins are re-usable if not damaged.

I have re use the bolts on my GLK and C class, so your should be good if you didn't replace them.

So far the braking power is amazing, no squeek at all. I followed the initial break-in pads and rotor instruction , it work out great
