My 2015 ML350 has been in the shop for 36 days. Great truck with 130k miles. We’re not able to find replacement coils that work. Tried two after market coils, but no luck.
Could anyone point me to a source for OEM coils? Most of the usual suspects show the part as back ordered. I’d really like to get my car up and running again. Thanks!
While working to add an OEM hitch assembly to my 2012 ML350 Bluetec I discovered that the rear springs need to be replaced. They are both broken at the lower end of the coil. Passenger side has (2) breaks while the driver side has (1) fracture. This car has less than 90K miles. I am thinking of buying Bilstein springs instead of the OEM. Would like to verify the significates of the color strip on the spring, is this associated with effective spring height to keep the car level?
Use mbparts.mbusa.com and enter your VIN to search for the correct springs for your vehicle. Looks like the spring has been broken for quite some time.
I am a bit disappointed with the local Mercedes dealer, as I took it in for an overall heath check a week or two after taking possession of the car and they didn't find the broken springs but did find a bad oil leak from the oil cooler or rear main. I completed the oil seal fix and replaced crankcase vent valve due excess soot oil accumulation of the intake air path to the engine.
It is amazing this car has about 87K miles on it and the passenger side spring in the photo actually has broken twice and the driver side spring has broken once?
