Replacement Radiator

I have a 2012 ML350 and need to replace the radiator.

I purchased a replacement- Nissens. It has ports for the integrated transmission cooler, however when I took the fan out, I saw the existing radiator DOES NOT have the integrated transmission cooler. It appears the transmission cooler is external to the radiator.

I am having trouble finding a replacement without the integrated cooler- Do I simply install the new radiator with the ports, or is there a replacement that does not have the cooler?

Part number on the original radiator is A099 500 00 04.

Thank you!

If it fits, just plug the holes and be done.

Appreciate the quick response.

The "If" part is the challenge......

I don't want to take the whole thing apart and the old one out only to find that the new one doesn't fit...... then I am stuck with a mess- either putting the old one back or waiting until I can find the correct part.

If the part I got is the current standard replacement, then what would I plug the TOC ports with?

Yes- they are only showing the same versions with the TOC ports.

What is your VIN or full model number (e.g., 166.XXX)? I can try to look up the part number in the EPC to make sure there hasn't been an update.

That doesn't work. If you don't want to provide your VIN, I need your model designation. Put your VIN into the website www.lastvin.com and get your model number from the top information. It should be something like 166.XXX. I need the numbers for XXX.

The EPC shows a different part number. But the description implies an integrated transmission oil cooler. The radiator is item #10. Not sure what item #100 is, but it seems to be the AC condenser. Grayed out numbers are not applicable to the model identified.

I just replaced my radiator on my 2013 ML350 yesterday with Nissens 0995001303 SKU067188 (which FCP says its a fit). Like the OP, my original radiator does not have transmission line connects, however, the radiator DOES FIT. The holes are there for, I assume, later models that connect to the radiator. Looking at my original, you can see where it looks like it could be plumbed for the connects but was not.

Exactly what I was looking for.... thank you very much.

What dud you do with the ports? Plug them? (with what?) Or just leave them bare?

I just left them bare. They are not pressurized. I started to leave the caps on that were provided but I did not want clearance issues when the tranny lines were put back into place. You will have to transfer the top radiator mount rubber bushings to your new radiator.

I purchased one of these Nissens radiators and a whole bunch of Genuine Mercedes cooling system parts last summer when they were still cheap, anticipating overhauling it when I got back from my long stay overseas (started the process of renovating our houses, condos, and other properties, in case we decide to leave the country and go back to where we also hold citizenship...LOL!). Haven't gotten to it yet, but I plan to do it soon. How has the Nissens radiator held up? What hose seals did you use (I noticed that the radiator comes with a set)? Are you in a region affected by the extreme cold of the polar vortex this winter? Have you experienced any coolant leaks?

I ask, because I overhauled the entire cooling system (replaced all engine and transmission cooling components: water pump, thermostat, radiator, expansion tank reservoir, hoses, coolant lines, transmission lines, clamps, bolts, seals, etc.) on our old 2004 E 500 S211 wagon a year ago and used Genuine Mercedes parts for everything on that car other than the radiator, which was a Mahle-Behr "OEM" unit I had purchased from FCP Euro. Well, I now have a new, very small coolant leak at where the upper radiator hose fits into the radiator after this prolonged polar vortex we've experienced in northern New England. I just got the "check coolant level" warning for the first time yesterday and had to add a little less than a quart of coolant to the expansion tank reservoir. When the temps get into the high 20°s Fahrenheit (rare, as of late...) or when the car is driven, the leak stops (or if the car just sits out in the extreme cold without running). The leak only occurs overnight after driving the car and then letting it sit in the extreme cold afterwards. I suspect that I need thicker/better O-ring seals for the hoses (radiator was pressure-tested last year when I got it, and the entire system was pressure-tested at the AlphaCars service shop when the installation was completed)... Up until sometime during the December polar vortex up here, the radiator and cooling system had been flawless and performing well (including earlier in the summer, when I was still in the U.S.)...
