Malfunction messages (BAS/ESP/ABS)

ABS-SYSTEM + BRAKE ASSIST (BAS) + ESP malfunction messages.

Does anyone have that problem before?
Based on the Manual, a malfunction has been detected. The Brake system functions in the usual manner, but without ABS. Yes, it does, however I feel heavy when turning the steering wheel (like no power steering).

Anyone has an idea what's going on? The car only has 8K miles.
Thanks

ESP/BAS error

Our 2002 C 230 K had these messages last week and it was a faulty sensor on the master cylinder. The part is on order

Anyway, I suspect a sensor has failed in your car too - time to visit the dealer.

Erreo messages

I've had these messages pop up a few times as well.

I've had my C230 for 5 weeks and it's been in the shop 4 times already for faulty sensors

Is ths a common problem?

Speed sensor

Quick update: The speed sensor needs to be changed. The dealer doesn't have the part, so they'll keep my car for another day. I am driving a C320, and I like it. It's a nice car and fun to drive.

Anyway, Thanks Guys.

However it seems that the pressure sensor is faulty (codes 1140 and/or 1145), it is not the sensor itself!
Something in the wiring is wrong.
Last year MB Germany did not know yet what went wrong, but now they do.

...and your MB-dealer should be informed about this (or it must be that America is way behind Europe according to service information)

Second Day: They changed the Speed sensor but the problem doesn't go away. Now, they want to change the ABS + ESP Control Unit. They have to order the Part..... Who knows ... what's next....

It may be fixed with a new ESP unit because new units are less sensitive for the pressure signal. New units were made because MB did not really knew what caused the pressure sensor signal to be faulty.
Now it is found: a change has to be done to the ESP wiring.
All (European) MB dealers are informed about that.
Now in Europe new ESP unit delivery is blocked because of the cost for MB (warranty).

ESP UNIT

Patrick,
You're right. They performed a DTC check out and the code is C1101. So, they changed:
1. Switch (i guess the speed sensor!)
2. Cable Harnes
3. Control Unit ?
4. ESP Control.

Hope everything is under control now!
