Well, I finally got into the Benz World. I bought a 2012 E350 Bluetec, with 128,000 miles. I haven't quite settled down yet, but I love the 37 mpg from the 13mpg on my previous vehicle. I THINK I bought right. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is not knowing whether the ticking at startup is normal or a harbinger of damaged timing chain. I have all of the service records showing regular service and maintenance. Hopefully, this will have forestalled some of the issues the Bluetecs are known. Any feedback on what is normal/abnormal would be appreciated.
I live in Lake Charles, LA. Any recommendations on a good/fair mechanic within a reasonable driving distance would be sincerely appreciated.
Here we go!!
my clock spring has indeed failed and i have no horn or power in the controls on my steering wheel. all other electrical works, lights, bluetooth, radio (with the knob underneath the radio) just not the controls on steering wheel.
i understand the "remedy" is not yet available for the airbag, but now that i have this electrical problem that is due to the clock spring, i'm trying to find out if this is covered under the recall. i can't seem to get an answer from the dealer. they have to do a "diagnostic" before letting me know...
feeling like i'm on a never ending hamster wheel of no information. anyone that has any experience with this, i would surely appreciate some inside info.
thanks so much...

They have some parts, but are fixing new cares first - go figure- since they cannot sell them unless its clear of recalls.
my SRS light is not on, but i'm not thrilled about driving the car without a horn or airbag. i'm not so worried about the control buttons on the steering wheel, i can live without them for now. the way it has been explained to me is that since the clock spring has "sprung" the airbag cannot deploy...i like being informed on things before going to the dealer. here in connecticut there doesn't seem to be a wealth of reputable dealers...i have been using the same mechanic since 1980, so i'm not used to the not so honest people at a lot of the dealerships...
again, thank you so much for your response, looking forward to getting my car back in working order, because i just love it!
Please feel free to introduce yourself in this section.
Enjoy!!

2011 E550 Cabriolet
Newbie here. Just picked up this Olivine E550 Canriolet with 39K Miles. Florida car, staying here in Florida. Amazing condition, great maintenance, and pre-loved. I’m quite fortunate to have found this beauty. Had no idea this color was special, but loved it regardless.
I have had this 2008 C300 Sport model in the last 4 years.
Car now has 138km and in needs some usual minor mechanical works.
It has been serving my family well but everything grows old in time people.
My name is David and I originally come from Ireland but I currently live in Abu Dhabi in the UAE.
I purchased my First Mercedes a little over a year ago (2004 E55 AMG, Japanese import) and have started to experience a few issues, hence my joining up with you fine people.
I will get to my many problems on the forums shortly, but in the mean time here are a few pictures of my wonderful headache:
Im John from Manchester UK.
Bought a ‘13 SL350 last weekend (magnetite, porcelain, black ash) and was due to pick up tomorrow (Sat).
Been buzzing all week!
Phone goes yesterday “We’ve discovered a 4” crack on the inside of a wheel in the multipoint pre sale check”
Pick up postponed until new AMG alloy arrives??
...good that they’ve picked it up and told me but it’s a national holiday (Monday) here in England and for once the weather forecast is wonderful
so was really looking forward to getting the car out in the good weather.
Looking like next weekend now
......will be snowing with my luck!
