love both cars
c200k is 6speed manual whereas the w204 c300 is automatic
i still love both cars although the c200k is funner to drive due to the manual
I've lurked over the years getting/using info for repairs and fixes from various sites and today came upon the site again while searching fixes for the 2006 SLK350, P0015 & P0355 engine codes. Our family ordered this vehicle brand new with the signature package or something custom ordered and it is still a runner at over 144K miles. Car still runs strong and nothing I really notice but have to fix the codes to get smoged and receive my sticker for 2019.The vehicle has been sitting for 2 years not getting any love.
I stumbled upon this post P0012 - Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1)
which is very informative and helpful, I'll post in that thread when I fix my 350.
Photo of the SLK while following in my truck at the end of our 100 mile drive home from the farm.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
My name is Tanmay and I have just joined the forum. I am considering to buy a classic mercedes but need some advice before i make a deal as I wish
to make sure I am getting myself a good one.
I am considering the following
1) W126 300SE 1987 with 364000kms ( 226k miles)on it; priced at 2500USD. The owner says its got a leaky engine sump and noise from front pulley area which goes away
when steering is used. However, he adds he had this issue form 10 years and hasn't bothered fixing. Is it a cheap fix or would it cost me $$$.
2) W123 230 1978 with 484000kms(300k miles) on it; priced at 3500USD. This one is pretty neat and tidy with a new cylinder head. Its got very slight rust on rear right
wheel arch but it's in very pristine condition.
3) W123 300D 1981 with 401000kms ( 250k miles) on it; priced at 5500USD. This ones in pristine condition except the transmission has a soft clunk when going from 2 to 3
Kind Regards
Tanmay
Please feel free to introduce yourself in this section.

Looking forward to reading some info about the specs and options, I can't seem to find a lot of info on the why's and wherefore's of how some things work. I am a shade tree mechanic and would like to do some of the work, but I have to figure out what makes things go 'round in this baby.
First, it should be noted that I would never imagine having to write this. I am a medical director and have no hidden agenda by conveying this information; however, I must... I have NEVER been more dissatisfied with a product. I thought I was an AMG driver for life; however, since leasing my 2018 E63 SL AMG, the car has been a disaster! My radiator has literally "blown-up" on 3 separate occasions. Each time, the car was in the shop for over a month. Constantly told "radiator is on back order" which makes me think I am not the only one to have experienced this problem. Always occurs when driving on highway and somehow run over some small object (causing no damage to exterior of car); then "check coolant/engine" light comes on and within minutes car shuts down. Now, most recently, my car was determined to be a Total loss from Progressive insurance after something kicked-up on highway through driver/rear tire - did so much damage to undercarriage that car was totaled. To clarify, NO external damage to car. I am convinced there is a flaw with this year/model. Prior to this car, I drove a 2016 E63 SL AMG and never had a problem. Mercedes cut weight between models in attempt to make faster and in the process removed the previously placed protection to underside/undercarriage. The final conclusion of an independent investigation conducted by Progressive Insurance was that "Mercedes made a horrible car never intended to drive on California's highways". I have also never been treated in such a horrendous matter as by AMG/Mercedes Customer Service/Executive Care team. Please share similar issues with this year/model.
Thanks in advance.

Bill Wells from Smithfield,NC I traded a Porsche Cayman S for a 2013 MB Sl 550. Have been in love with car for a while and got tired of the Porsche. Have enjoyed using this forum.

on its way to a new home after being parked 2 years
Prior owner had it shipped over from Germany as these were not sold originally in Canada. I'll drive it for a while and get the bugs out before i give it fresh paint.
