Welcome New Members
How do you replace the Driver's side REAR DOOR new actuator without breaking the tabs off?
Look forward to your response.
Thank you.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
(This is my first car that I could really boast about)
It was meant to be a quick buy and flip my cash but the longer I keep the car the more I love it.
The problem am having is the common rust ( on the front wing and doors)
I can't afford Mercedes parts as such but want to restore the car to the highest standard as I can. I will take pictures later and post them up but need doors and wings at a low cost I live in Edinburgh Scotland uk
- all lights and radio works
- cranks over for one second but does not start.
-starts every time if you jump it.
- once the car starts, it runs perfectly.
I originally thought it was a battery. I replaced the battery. Same problem after it started couple times.
I took the car to a benz specialist and they plugged the car up to the star machine and told me that they found no errors.
They told me that it might or might not fix the problem but might be the crankshaft position sensor. Replaced it and same problem. I jump started the car and left the car at a dealership overnight drop.
The alternator also checked out after we tested it!!
Could it be the key? Ignition module? If not, what else!!!!???
Any feedback would be appreciated. Super frustrated.

I have had this many times in all of mine, friends, and family Mercs. What battery did you replace it with, from where, and was it new (assuming it is new), If it is OEM, did you give them your vin? When you Jump it, how are you jumping it? Jumper pack? another car.. if another car, what type of car?
These cars are very sensitive to the type of battery you put in them. I know it sounds weird but I experienced all of what you are talking about. Also, what was the outside ambient temperature when this started happening.
It sounds like you don't have enough cranking AMPs from a healthy battery. A New battery will not work and do the same thing if it isnt correctly sized.

Big Vic,
thanks for the reply. I did not purchase a OEM battery just bought a battery from NAPA. I made sure that the cold crank number was at least 700+ since the stock battery needed 700. It is currently at the dealer now. They did call me this afternoon and told me that they hooked it up and could not find the problem ( other than the car not starting). Shouln't they be able to tell me what the problem exactly is, including a incorrect battery? They told me that they will do further testing and let me know. Just don't want to spend another $300+ for a battery to find out that was not the issue? I was thinking maybe it is the key, security system (stock), or even the ignistion module?? Any thoughts??

As for the jumping, What are you using to jump the car? If it is working from a Jump, I am almost 99.9999% sure that nothing is wrong with your keys, or other electrical. A jump won't make those things start working.
I am still leaning towards the correct battery. The amps is only one part of the sizing, the electrical system on the Mercs are more complicated than normal cars that you can just go buy a battery. The ONLY aftermarket batteries that work are the BOSCH ones and even then, we had to get a few different ones to get the car working. Depending on the options on your car, amps will only be part of it.
I would seriously try and rule out the battery and maybe borrow or something from friend or other merc car.
My buddy put an Autozone aftermarket battery that was high cranking amps etc, suppose to work on his e550. Well, it didnt, even after 3 exchanges and sizes up. He bought a Bosch one after providing his VIN and it worked first time.
