Kenneth are you trying to say that you were able to unlock your 04 S to allow you to view DVD movies with these codes?
The only code that remotely works for me is mute+1+3+7+ left arrow. And all it does is give me a bunch of information that I can't change.
Otherwise I have many prints of these codes and have written them all off as being bogus.
I Will say that enabling Mp3 on the W211 cars, these work like a charm. But that doesn't get me anywhere with my S.....
help?

I was never able to get to engineering mode after 3 attempts. I don't have a phone button so I used the end button a couple of times...then the send button.

The guide is for widescreen systems.
when I have a 'normal' screen command (2001) is there another guide for that?

Not only have I followed your posts long enough to know that when you say something like that, you're right - note the "Video" button in the photos. It is present on Euro spec COMAND 2.0 but not on U.S. spec (because it is completely unnecessary since the video decoder is absent).
I'd love it if someone proves me wrong. I don't care about watching DVDs, but I could burn music in a better format (Dolby Digital, much nicer than mp3) - but the playlists are menus (video files) when one does that, and will not display.

Skylaw, the only thing I can suggest to you is getting a Euro comand and mate it with the DVD drive in your trunk already. I have not tried this combo but I suspect it should be fine.

Although I'm glad to have the mp3 DVD capability, it does diminish the sound quality.

I'm sure with a minor lead towards what or how to make and burn superior audio files I'd be able to experiment and make some good sounding DVDs.

smb7420,
Unfortunately the cars that will play DVDs will only play the DVD audio in two ways: as .mp3 files burned to a DVD as data, or as DVD audio (such as the sound track of a movie or music DVD).
I posted my procedure for burning .mp3 discs at https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...6#post2099946; I use a Macintosh G5 DP, convert all of my music to mp3 in iTunes, and drag & burn in Toast. If you have a Mac, see the detailed procedure.
Even if you use Windows you shouldn't have a buzz in the audio. It's not a feature of mp3 compression or disc burning. It is likely a grounding problem either in your computer system or in your car. Mp3 suffers because it is a "lossy" format that does not capture all of the audio information of the larger, better files (such as the AIFF files native to CDs).
When I use Toast to burn a DVD in the same format that one would use to make a video disc, I get much better sound quality; my source material is usually either AIFF or Apple Lossless. Toast 8 converts these files to standard DVD audio files, recording them as Dolby Digital. However, as I mentioned, I cannot see any folders, playlists or song information, because they are recorded as video files that cannot be displayed on a U.S. COMAND. So, I don't use this option - I simply played with it, and was impressed by the superior sound quality vice mp3.

I have an Euro DVD COMAND for W220/215 ('04 up) that I need to get rid of :P It's in perfect working order and as mint condition (removed when new).
A220 870 2189 ZGS 000
A220 827 0457 ZGS 001
A220 445 0360 ZGS 001
Made by Simens Germany
This unit has the video module build in and if you have the facelifted widescreen US COMAND, this is a direct swap and you'll be able to watch DVD right away. $550 plus $50 courier from Hong Kong, I have over 200+ all positive eBay feedbacks, and I can throw it on eBay if you're worried. PayPal to confirmed address.
Sorry if this post is out of line, if that's the case, let me know and I'll edit it :P

COMAND Unlock
Hi all,
I read with interest the COMAND unlock codes for W219, W211, R171, W220 (widescreen), R330 (widescreen).
Do these codes work on a W203 C350? MY 2006
I would REALLY appreciate informed knowledge...
Many thanks

the w203 USA spec comand is a MCSII system made by alpine and you will not able to watch dvd's on it. There is no unlock for it. For the rest of the world, 2005 and later C class comands are made by becker and those do not have build in dvd players. you would need to get a external tv tuner first and mate a drive to it. Contact forum member Miro as he can help you in Australia.
