it's weird, I just checked on the MB website for the AMSOIL name and it doesn't appear among the hundreds of approved oils

Did someone forget to let them know that AMSOIL is approved?
mobil 1 and mercedes are in marketing campaign together of course there gonna sy only use mobil 1.
some of the top race shop i know that produce high hp stuff recommended this stuff over mobil and even royal purple.
Gondon you have castrol gtx in your car moron lol....plus have you changed yours filters since you bought the car??? i know coming up with $53 is difficult these days ahhahhahaa

If the oil was so good it would not void your warranty, and would have the proper approval.

It is recommended for European and North American gasoline or diesel vehicles requiring any of the following worldwide specifications ...
Begging the question of whether 229.51 supersedes 229.5 or not, they don't say that they have any of those certifications, just that they recommend their oil for applications requiring them. The MB literature seems to indicate they don't have a 229.51 cert.

I guess these "OLD" Air Filters are enough to pull, If I got new ones I'd be CarLengths ahead why would you want that ?

PS - Amsoil has a 25,000 mile warranty.. If your motor blows up and they find the fault with the oil then they will replace your motor free of charge..
S5LorinserF1 I have a stock S500 and you better beat me by an entire block from 40-100 with all the mods you have !!!!

even mobil stated amsoil syntetic was superior.. i guess it comes down to your budget also.
i change my oil every 2000-2500 even though its syntetic because i drive the shat out of it. mobil is almost $3 cheaper a quart 6.99 vs 9.40. i love having the best products in there so im gonna try amsoil.
i had royal purple and it was allright....there ATF is amazing compared to the mobil atf. i had no more clunking or rough shifts after the change.
i think mobil 1 0w-40 is ok... so amsoil atf and 5w-40 should be the best out of all.

Do some used oil analysis with both the M1 and Amsoil and let us all know what you find.

I use MB transmission fluid where required 722.6 and .9, othwerwise I use Valvoline Dextron VI (fully synthetic replacement for DexIII).

Dude you cannot say that without having factual data to back it up.. By going what the internet says or "testimonials" you will just look like a fool..
First off did you know that in 90% of all oils their additives are GONE after 3000 miles so after that you are just causing wear on the motor..
Second tell me why you think Royal Purple is "allright" compared to Amsoil.. Is it cause the bottle was not as pretty?
Third believe it or not the absolute best ATF oil is not Amsoil or Royal Purple or Mobil 1.. Its John Deere trans oil.. I know quite a few people who have replaced their ATF with that and have actually seen over a 4mpg increase in their cars..
PS - I know I dont have to change the oils at 2000 miles but in a turbocharged motor when you are rough on the car and do not let it idle for a bit so the turbos can cool off you can actually ruin the oil well before 3000 miles as well as "coking" up the oil lines inside the turbo thereby promoting premature turbo failure.. IMO better safe than sorry.
