What model and year Command is this from? I have a 2002 S430 and am really interested in doing the upgrade but would love the option of using my ipod and watching DVD's up front.

I am talking about the three pictures of the command system where you said you would use this unit if you installed this upgrade command unit today. It looks like it has more features than the 2003 Command unit, like DVD, etc.

I believe the system you are talking about needs adapters to work with the factory fiber optics.. or you would have to replace the amp. I may be wrong as I am not firmiliar with that particular unit but I have seen other units for these cars like that and they won't work with the factory systems.. I think the much better route is getting the genuine Comand MOPF and getting the speed signal converter from Chris.. that is what I am doing.. I'll be ordering mine tomorrow..

That is what I am talking about to. It works fine with the original amp. Just if you have Bose you have to cut wires since the cable set dont fit the Bose amp. It has MANY more features than the original unit.

Do you know where to get that upgraded Command system Chris that you were talking about?

UPDATE: Well I just recieved my speed signal converter today from Germany. I installed it with the included directions. It was very simple to install. As soon as I installed it everything started working (navigation). The map updates and I can get directions. Now, at first it was really un accurate and would say I was on the wrong road, keep going when I would stop etc.. but either the converter had to learn or the HU because after about 10-15 minutes of driving it became suprisingly accurate. It's very close on. Someone mentioned the upgrade in an older car like this would make the navigation voice guidence go away but that is not true, it all works. I even was able to get the directions up on the guage cluster. This speed signal converter is absolutely a must have to make this work correctly!

Just bought a used Nav and the misc parts needed for the upgrade from Chris. I just had a thought though, anyone know if I need any codes when I install the 2003 MY nav? Do these units require a code at all?

Received the parts from Chris to make the wide screen nav function correctly in my 2001 S500, (GPS antenna and Speed sensor), but I don't see where they connect to the Nav unit.
First picture is the back of the original NAV unit from my 01 S500 and the second two are pictures of the replacement Nav unit with the above mentioned connectors that don't seem to mate up to the new Nav unit.
Also what do the several loose multi color wires in the third picture (Loose ends not visible in picture) on the connector in my hand. What do they connect to?
Any help would be appreciated.
