Sunroof problem, please help!
I recently got my headliner in my 03 s500 redone because the previous owner had stained it. Now, when go to open the sunroof it moves a few centimeters then stops, and I have to keep hitting the button repeadtedly to get it to fully open. The weird thing is, it closes fine without problems. The tilt function is also acting funny.
I did the push gas 5 second ect ect thing to reset the ecm but it didnt help. I also tried holding it in one position for 10 seconds and that didnt help either. The interior guys said that they called the local benz dealership and they said that sometimes if you disconnect a certain swich(involving the sunroof) that if it is going bad, it can cause it to get worse by disconnecting it(sounds like bs).
Any ideas? The material that I switched the headliner to is thicker if that matters.
Thanks guys, I really need help here

mines opens with the first push. sometimes it closes and stops and i have to push the button again. This is when the tracts may have some thing in them so try cleaning the tracts and lubricate (not sure what MB uses). it is like the door windows if something blocks them they will stop and go in the opposite direction for a while.

Thanks for the help so far guys. Maybe I didnt explain what its doing properly. When I hit the open function,it opens about 1/2 inch, then I release the button and hit it again and it only opens another 1/2 inch. I have to keep on repeatelly hitting the button probally 20 times to get the roof fully open.

It's out of sync because the battery was disconnected.
The method is somewhere here, I think you hold up key few seconds and then out key. You basically reprogram it. It's an easy fix.

PROBLEM FIXED!! Turn ignition to on position, hold the tilt button until its fully tilted then continue to hold the tilt button for a few seconds until you hear a click sound. Then its fixed.

See if you
can reset resync it via your express feature on the key.If the car is so equipped.pop doors keep pressing key after door popped until sunroof is open.lock doors repeat holding till sunroof closed.
