I swear these cars are underappreciated

Every single time I get into the Benz I am blown away.

I know this forum is littered with people complaining about xyz not working, but holy moly when things are right they are right.

Yes when they are taken care of and maintained they are fantastic cars , and the ones that are taken care of can run and look new even at 20 years old and 200k miles .

No other brand can make cars that perform and look so good after so much use . 20 year old Honda’s and Toyota with 200k Miles look like garbage

And the worst, nothing better came afterwards. I was looking for a replacemnt of my W220. The result is clearly, there is no worthy replacement in the market, The new engines in the W221 or W222 are just high performance turbo motors, with significantly reduced displacement, terrible motor noise and they will never last for >200,000 mls. And who needs 455 hp?????

There are other cars that I'd rather have, but none at remotely close to the price. I have a W221 now - maintenance is much easier - but I really don't like driving it.

The magic sauce for me was ABC. When everything is working right (big qualification, that) the handling is quite amazing for a luxo-barge.

It's like parallel skiing instead of snow-ploughing.

I think it's tragic that people air out their ABC cars. It just ruins them. Mine has 220k on the clock with ABC, and it runs like new. For the price paid, it's truly astounding.

Have you tried putting rear wheels on the front?
THEN you'll realise they're under-appreciated.
Nick :-)

I agree - I am not a fan of staggered tire sizes.

me

Engines in the late W221 and early W222 are actually VERY reliable. No such proof that they wont last past 200k, No worries from a benz with turbo v8. Maybe upgrade from your Chrysler area Benz and see for youself?

Just read the German forums. Lots of issues around the new turbo charged engines.

That's the same with ALL manufacturers. If you deep dive all the other one-make forums you'll find recurring howls of protest, and paranoid envy of MB cars.

Maybe you're reading BMW forums too much...No major documented issues from any turboed Mercedes - Pretty solid compared to BMW, but they are improving as well. Just avoid their V8s.

hope you can read German. This is just one of many examples around the new turbo engines in W221/222 cars beginning 2011/12. This one is very disturbing as even MB could not get the problems straightened out.

BTW I'm not reading BMW forums, but Porsche, and they have similar motor related issues, mainly V8's and some earlier V6's

I would be really disappointed if my car only put out 455 HP, I would have it hooked up and try to figure out what was wrong with it...
