Oh ya there is another thing that I actually like more on the MB's and other german cars than japanese cars and that is the wheel well. The germans put the right size rim and tire to fill out the wheel well properly while the Japanese cars the wheel seems a bit smaller so that you need to get afternarket rims to till out the wheel well. I was looking at my GS350 and E500 and the tires on my E500 stick out more while on the GS350 the wheels are kind of inside the fenders.

Not only goes it look better, but it helps with handling.

I bought a 98 E and then switched to the 01 LS and then an 04 LS and then back to an 06 E. My favorites were the 01 LS and the current 06 E. The 98 E was nice, but under equipped. The 04 was too much like the 01 and I was bored.

I really like the new LS and the new S, but both are too big for my taste. As someone who has been in both camps, both brands have the same amount of luxury to me. Lexus is always a little ahead in the toys and value proposition. MB has more style and is more fun to drive.

I think the LS will attract more LS buyers, but they won't come from S Class owners.

From where would they come, then? 7 Series owners wouldn't be interested in the LS, and neither would A8 drivers, I wouldn't think. Both those cars entail much more driving than the LS, as opposed to being driven.

I suspect younger people moving up to the 80K+ tier will consider their options and many will decide on the LS in either variation. I think E Class owners are likely to consider the LS if they want something bigger. I think 7 Series owners would consider the LS, too.

Hit it right on the head, most of the A8 and 7 series drivers are looking for enthusiast cars while LS and Benz are more for luxury cars

You and AsianML really need to get a reality check. If you don't think that anyone thinking of a S-class won't consider a LS is delusional. The LS is $15,000+ dollars cheaper and rides just as well. Do a search on the internet before making such a dumb claim.

Well even Lexus execs admitted in a recent article that people who consider the S, 7, or A8 wont give the LS a second look, simply because they have a short shopping list.

I for one am turned off by the Camry styling and blatant side profile copying from BMW. Plus the interior looks the same as the old LS.

The fact is that people cross shop all these cars so to say that this group won't look at that and this group won't look at that is pretty naive. The only group that likely won't cross shop this class is those who have their mind made up on getting a Maserati Quattroporte. In fact the S and LS are likely cross shopped more than the LS and 7-Series and A8 are, as more LS owners are likely former Benz owners than 7-Series and A8 owners. Though there are some from all brands at Lexus now.

Actually I hate Lexus, that is not a real luxory car in my opinion, but one thing is sure they have good cars. I cant imagine to drive S-Class or CL and then to buy a Lexus.

This car is still Japanese and will always be, they can try whatever they like, but they will never have the same feeling as a German car.

But taste are different, I know many people they swear on Lexus(never have any problems).

Anyway I rather have small problems sometime but a much more beatyfull and speacial car than no(or less) problems and a pretty Idealess car.

It is 2007 World Car of the Year rice burner for you. It beat out MB's CL. And don't tell me that this award means nothing because if the MB S-class would have won it last you would be hollering about it also but it was beat out by the 3 series.

Lets just be happy with what we drive. I just ordered a new CL and we have 2 W221's in the house.

Let this thread die and burn in hell for once and for all.

It'll only put out 20% of the smog of a normal V-8, have a butter smooth trans, tons of luxury, and be only 104k, and supposedly extremely reliable. Any thoughts?

Do you guys think it could steal some serious sales away from the S-Class? Oh and they say it'll be AWD, which is even better. Supposedly with the CVT transmission and the electric motors, it'll be the quietest car in the world to drive.
No personality. Interior try to image real luxury car. If I have 100k+ to spend on a vehicle, it is not even on my radar.

Seems like anything that doesn't favor the MB brand is labeled dumb by some of you. You should look things up before calling it dumb.

While there are a lot MB enthusiasts who won't consider any other brand. Lexus has the same level of dedicated customers.

I like to think that most MB owners love their car like I do. Right now there is no other model I want more than the MB I have now. When it's time to replace my car, MB will be the first car I consider. But not the only one.

I have to ask you why you're here? If you have so much contempt for Mercedes then why bother posting here? Also, since the LS won world car of the year, what does that mean? Does that make it better than the CL now? The 2 cars don'e compete.

No it doesn't make it better than the CL, but you have posters who say the car and Lexus is crap and sh$t. So to make a point that if 50 international automobile journalists who test cars for a living voted this car over the CL then this car cannot be ****. The 2 cars don't compete but are not judge that way they are judged individually so to make it fair. That is why much cheaper cars was runners up.

Well let me reiterate...car publications are usually dumb--they sometimes don't understand all the features of the car, why certain things are the way they are, and they compare incompatible cars. For example, edmunds recently compared the M6 to the SL65 AMG. They gave it to the M6 because it was cheaper. That is an idiotic comparison, and if someone can't see that I don't know what to say.

Now as for this World Car of the Year bs...I don't care how many automotive journalists reviewed these cars...what were their criteria? Anyway, awards and so-called "professional" reviews mean nothing to me and many of the members of this forum. So keep quoting, it's not going to get you anywhere.

Can you find that picture for me? I am friends with his US business partners and theres slim chance he would be wearing anything like a chinese quarz watch. If you are going to make a claim - gotta back it up =)
