can we get a straight forward answer on how to retrofit an S550 2007 tail light to a 2011 LED tail light, whether there is a need to change the light control module, harness, plugs etc. ?

It is a plug n play effort to update a 2007 S550 to 2010 Led tail lights (just did this last week end). I'm new to the MB family so I do not know if there is a difference between 2010 & 2011 tail lights, they look the same.Originally Posted by cool_lagoon

Walt are you referring to the original tail light when you say plug and play or are you referring to the replacement versions? i needed to replace with the original and do not wish to use replacements or imitations, now you make me confuse. with your message, tell me more like what is the original MB tail light is it plug and play? or should i buy an imitation that is plug and play?Originally Posted by walt2810

The originals are not plug n play from what I have read.

OEM updated tail lights are not plug and play - I ordered my tail lights and had to order a SAM module as well to get everything to work right...

Hey guys,
I didn't have the courage to read the 15 pages of this topic, so I'll get straight to the point : how much do the facelift tail lights cost (incl. ad hoc spare parts)?
(and also how much time expected for the fitting?)

Pic before swap.

Just 2 plactic plugs and one screw and it is all lose.

Then it is just 3 nuts and unplug the cable.

Ready for the new light. Just insert it and plug it in. NO errors at all.

Done! I have a 2006 model.

Oh yeah Chris nice!
Now 3 more questions:
- How come some people (from what I have read) get some error message after installing the new lights?
- Do you need to replace the light module
- How much do the OEM lights cost?
Thanks

There seems like the first batch had some fault in them and didnt work. All new ones should work. I would never go for originals since these actually also have a cooler light.
Nothing needs to be done. You dont have to ask that again unless you go for originals. Then all trouble starts. So dont go there.

does anyone know how to connect the resistors i got my new tail lights in but have error messages that pop up. i wanna connect the resitors and see if that will get rid of them.
Why do you guys keep on buying originals with all these problems and they even don light up as cool as the others? That blows my mind!

well i heard that if you buy aftermarket and dealer finds out they void the warrenty. plus i had problems with aftermarket also.

Ahh...You still have warrenty. Ok..No rules like that here unless something would happen with just the taillights. But even if you add originals with resistors it sounds like it is not "original" anymore. ;-)

lol yeah your kinda right on that one. where would i get a photo or get a diagram or the tail light wiring so that i can get the resistors connected. i need HELPPP with this

Purchase from Expressparts in EBay. No resistors or modifications. Simply plug and play. Get refund for the other set you purchased. The more modding you do, the mote risk your taking of disturbing the electrical components. FYIOriginally Posted by freightflyer333

I've looked at http://www.eagleeyes.com.tw, but I can't find anything but replacements.
