Engine swap from CLS550 to S550 possible??

Hi All

Can someone tell me how difficult it is to swap and engine from cls500 or cls550 (still trying to find out which) to replace a M273.961 S550 2011

I have the old engine out, 2 screwed cylinders (salt water damage) could not find anyone to resleeve them due to the complex sleeves

I have got another engine from CLS, it comes with everything attached, all cables even the engine management computer

Has anyone got experience in changing these out? Will I need to buy anything else?

Which computer is it best to use, the original s550 or the one from the new donor car?

I have star diagnostics and can get online to benz Germany to code any unit that requires it

would appreciate any pointers, the engine is due to arrive at mechanics in a few days, just trying to line up my ducks first

thanks

Yep, it had water in just 2 cylinders 1 and 8, but as the sleeves are coated with nikasil, they cannot change them. what a total waste of an engine. It ran fine but smoked a little and had lower compression on the two clyinders

hopefully I can sell the heads and even the block to someone that can use the internal parts to offset the replacement engine cost

Was the car submerged in salt water or did it ingest it?

The reason I ask is that if it's a flood salvage car with salt water immersion the last thing anyone here would want is to see that car put back together and sold. (If it's for your personal use that's a different story.)

UPDATE:

Swap went fine, used same ECU from original engine. Few connectors were different plus the manifold downpipes, had to use original ones, but all went well

Just looking for tips on removing engine myself. Is it from the top or bottom# 1? Did you do it at home? Etc whatever info is welcome and greatly appreciated.
