LED license plate lights

I installed these LED units in about 15 minutes. They definitely are a huge improvement over the regular bulbs, especially for under 20.00. It's hard to tell the color in the pics but they are super bright.

Cool. Yea, in 2010, the updated the bulbs to a whiter, hid look, but they are not leds, they are some kind of super white filament bulb still.

Replacing those lights on a 2010+ is a pain...a lot of stuff to take apart

Mine makes rear view camera more effective at night by illuminating the area behind the car.

Report back after you do it. Like I said, 2010's have a super white bulb in them, the look led color, not yellow, but prob not as potent as true led.

I followed the youtube video by GoFastJames.

I was out last night and when I unlocked the car and saw the license plate leds light up, I was like wow, this looks so much better.

I'm using a T10 can bus error free bulb off of ebay for the license plate bulbs. Bought like 20 of them for $10 and used them to replace most of the bulbs in the interior also.

Looks good. At least you know how to do it now. If I ever have to do mine again, it'll be a lot faster since I did it once already.

It is quite a bit to pull apart to change the license plate bulbs....but the LED upgrades are worth it.

I've said this before but 07-09 license plates shine yellow/dull. 2010 is a bright white/pure white and they actually aren't led. They are like a super white kind of bulb. Don't know if most know this. I thought they were led but the looks of the color...

On my 2013, the factory connectors are different from the 07-09 T10 (194/168/W5W) style connector. Clearly, the LEDs I bought won't work unless I change the connectors. See the photo below.

The seller sent a replacement, but it still does not fit. The factory connector is more oval and the LED is more rectangular.

I believe M-B made a change some time between MY 11 and 12. the OE license light is in fact ~4500 to 5500K white and it does not have a replaceable bulb. I believe the OE is already LED.

konigstiger, as always, thank you. EPC confused me because, using my VIN, it listed a T10 W5W bulb (000853) with the lamp housing. It did not show the bulb as "not applicable".

David, I appreciate that your website lists the OE part numbers and they are searchable.
