cornering lights
originally posted in the w216 cl forum but no one ever answers. considering these cars both have the same platform, im curious if maybe they share the same bulbs. perhaps just oriented differently?
message came up to check right cornering light..ive found conflicting information regarding bulb types and locations and cant find anything specific for my 2010 cl550 4matic sport pkg. any help on bulb type and location would be appreciated.. if it helps, last summer i was able to replace both of my headlight bulbs by removing the wheelwell covers, wasnt that difficult.

Mine are H7's. You need to access the inside cover so towards the center of the car, not the one towards the fender. It should be doable without removing anything. There's a section in the manual (page 692) that covers it.

Interestingly the pre v. post facelift will make a difference, at least it does in the W221 chassis. Pre-facelift you can replace the bulb and it's fairly easy via the access port on the back of each headlamp. Post facelift, the access port is deleted (no hole/cover) and the lamp is LED. Thinking perhaps your CL might be the post facelift?

Cornering lights typically don't engage until you're cornering.... so you might need to have someone drive while you observe. Since it's the right light, have them turn left first so you can see what bulb turns on, then try right.
Worse case, pull bulbs from the left side to intentionally trigger bulb out till the left corner out bulb out is triggered to tell which one. Then you can take a picture of the bulb and we can help you identify what bulb that is.

The cornering bulbs are actually the closest to the center of the car in the headlight housing and are angled outward toward the curb (see the chart below.) On the pre-facelift W221/W216 it is an H7 bulb, post facelift the owner's manual suggests consulting a qualified service technician. This info below is from page 543 and 544 of the CL Operator's Manual. The areas circled in your photo appear to be from the facelift lights with the LED parking lights.

Cornering light
Have a similar problem on a 2010 S-550. A "check left cornering light" comes on intermittently.
Dealer tech believes not a cornering light problem, but an internal wiring problem?
When car sat two days battery was run down and car would not start. Battery and charging circuitry
check out OK. No problem starting daily.
Any experience or comments?

Have not tried these personally but I do have several of their 194 LED replacement bulbs in my car. License plate light, trunk lighting, footwell lighting, really great quality lights.
