Hello very good to this great family. I'm here asking for advice on a command update issue. I have Xentry/DAS 07-2016 with offline programming and working great. Now the following happens to me. …when I connect the XENTRY/DAS to the car and do a diagnosis there is only one error and it is in COMAND. the error puts code..DFFF COMAND SOFTWARE IS NOT CURRENT... now I hit offline programming and I get to the page where it tells me that there is a new version for the radio tuner and asks me to update with some of the following... TELEMATIC CD. 2168274159…2218270065…2218270465…2218270665…first question which of them is the one I have to use???? say that my car s500 w221 end of 2005 European version and I have a bird's eye view in the COMAND. real time traffic and video option from what I understand it has one of the latest Telematic updates. the COMAND works perfectly, the only thing that is true is that the radio does not tune the stations very well. And just this update tells me that it corrects errors in the radio tuner hence wanting to update and apart from the fact that the update lasts 8 minutes. Say I have a 20A battery charger. It also takes longer to update the navigation maps to 2019 almost 45 minutes and the clock correction almost 15 minutes and everything is great. so what telematic cd should i use???? What if this update killed the air conditioning? I read something about it. I thank you very much in advance for all your help. A very strong greeting from Spain. to take good care of yourself.
Thanks BOTUS for the link. she had already read it several times. I have read it again. what happens is that this link refers to a telematic update. of COMAND completes which lasts a long time. this update was done to my car in 2008 and it was the one that gave it all these bird visit functions. real-time traffic. video option etc so far good. what I don't know what telematic gave all these functions to my car. That is why I have asked which telematic of those that I put in the first message I should use. I understand that the 216 should not be. So I still have to know between these three which one I should put if 2218270065..2218270465..2218270665.. I have looked in Xentry/Das in COMAND the version that I have but I am not clear which cd telematic. it was put in his day to my car. I attach a photo. I have this question of which one to use for this small update that Das asks me to do. update that only lasts 8 minutes and that is for the TUNER SOUND CONTROL UNIT. in DAS it puts programming time 8 minutes. It also states that with this new software the following errors are solved. RADIO/Poor reception. RADIO/RDS regional programs function error. AUDIO/Disturbance noise emitted from the speakers. AUDIO/Poor audio quality. RADIO/Poor sound quality. Of all these errors, the one I have is from the radio. POOR RECEPTION. hence why you want to do this update. but of course I need to know what telematic to use. and the other most important question is little update for the radio tuner WILL IT TURN OFF MY A/C ???? once again a million thanks. never heard of reception issues in the W221
on most other Mercedes its the antenna amp has either bad connections or its just failed - there is an antenna amp just above the top centre of the rear window - crazy money
the OTHER optional tuner DAB for Europe and US Satellite radio both use a separate tuner and it might have an update in USA (no idea?)
I don't think the comand system will make the radio play different.. the picture you have above shows the same software I have on my comand unit - Mine was updated to those by Main Merc dealer in Oct 2014

I think in an early W221 like my 2007 S600, once you have COMMAND updated to 3.5 which is the birds eye view; you can't go to COMMAND 4.0. So if you already have bird's eye, call it a day.
As far as other updates, BOTUS has weighed in on many of the other questionable feature upgrades to radar, braking, and a few other settings. He is by far one of the more discerning and knowledgeable contributors here.

tuner software isn't the comand software... ones by your knee the others in the boot, it can be done separately - but its is programmed by a CD in the comand unit - you have to set the car up in Xentry then it tells you which CD to install - the factory method then double checks the disc you fitted was the one it said to use, and loads via the most to the tuner in the boot in about 20 minutes
the correct disc for a UK Tuner to software sw 2219027901 either of these cd's 2168274159 or 2218270065

Por eso preguntaba que cd poner ya que tengo los tres CD en mi casa, esa era una de mis dudas cual debo usar.??? y la otra duda que tenia era que si hacer esta pequeña actualización podria estropear algo???? . No me gusta hacerle nada al coche sin antes leer mucho sobre el trabajo que quiero hacer y, sobre todo, preguntar a expertos como tú. por eso hice la pregunta si debería hacer esta actualización de software que está disponible para mi automóvil. una vez más estoy muy muy agradecido con usted y los demás compañeros por toda la ayuda y toda la información que me dan. not quite - although Merc says they are directly compatible - when you check the discs they have tiny differences, some head units are on one disc and not the other - NEVER believe Mercedes know what they are doing - the CL models are meant to use 2168274159
An S class in europe should use 2218270065 - you need to re-enable the AC after flashing this HIFI unit !!!!
Only USA should insert 2218270665

the other bit to check if its had the BIG update.... in the user menus on the comand go to Navi - Maps and Map view if it has the option for "Bird's-eye view" it got the big update - there was later in late 09 43 (2009 week 43) another update for the Tuner only - no idea what it did
middle pic of those 3 is the hardware date (not software) - go to the car with dealer tools ... do quick scan then press F8 it will list ALL modules and hardware and software status, if it list 9 million faults don't print it (will waste paper) clear all the lies and start again then you get just 7 pages of what the state the cars software is in - no one ever updates them....

2009 S600 and my analog clock is reading the correct time and I found the Birds eye view feature in my nav.
Am I up to date with these two items.
Is there a menu I can get the current clock and Nav software versions.
Last question, what the latest year of maps for a 2009?
usa quite incredibly has more miles of roads than the 45 countries that makes up the majority of europe - something like 500k vs 450k and I wonder if they decided with five million gig of useless points of interest no one has ever used on any sat nav, if they felt the latest data no longer fitted on the disc - certainly on the later head unit they gave up new mapping for USA in 2015
re is it up to date - I'd go in the secret menu and check for 423 - a car that hasn't has the battery left off it can still fake the year... but the month tends to go random and slowly the analogue clock will go out of step
get in the car and turn on the key (it can ALL be done with it running - they flatten batteries in seconds on these cars otherwise)...
move the comand cursor (which Icon is highlighted) on the top menu bar that reads Navi, Audio, Telephone, Video, Vehicle,
use the control wheel to select Vehicle. Then pull the control wheel to the bottom menu and highlight System Settings
now these four all have to be done together
o Press and hold the “*” button, which is referred to as the “Favorite” button and typically actuates the rear sunshade.
o While holding “*”, press the Control Dial to the Right without pressing it down or turning it.
o While the “*” is pressed and the Control Dial is held to the right, press the Seat Massage button to the right of the Hazard switch and hold it.
o While holding the “*” button, the Control Dial to the Right, and the Seat Massage button, press the Mute button, which is the button located below the VOL dial and has an icon with a speaker with a slash though it.
When this combination is performed successfully, you will have reached the Engineering Menu.
change NOTHING other than instigating update if you have loaded the right clock fix CD in the drive - but you can safely scroll round to look at everything
if its not on version 423 if the battery has been disconnected between Nov 2019 and now, it may well say year 2003 together with random time and day / month issues - and if in a daylight saving area - the time will be random and out of sync with the analogue clock regardless of battery disconnection
on these early NTG3.0 cars they didn't build in any security to stop you borrowing a mates new maps DVD... it reads and writes it to a hardrive, then you take the disc out and its effectively bin material - thus its very easy to get hold of them...
on a 2006 car it will clunk and whirr and say failed and split the disc out (that's normal) you press it back in again and say sure it is - it says OK, do you want to update (about 45 mins with the engine running !) - over the next few weeks in my experience (done mine 3 times for new maps) often on start up the unit will pop up a message saying Nav not ready, then get over itself within a min or two - over the course of a month it settles down and goes away for good (I believe its really transferring the info to the correct part of the harddrive)
on 2008 cars the menu reads a more alarming world ending message - and you just say sure kill the unit then and it loads the new maps (43 mins is normal for the 2019 european maps)
on NTG3.5 late 2009 cars, it needs a pin number linked with chassis number to unlock loading the newer mapping info

Hi Botus, I was able to access the Top Secret Engineering Menus.
It showed 422 in the upper right hand corner, meaning it doesn’t have the clock fix?
To complete the clock fix it needs to have the DVD functioning to load the patch to bring it up to 423?
If yes, then next step is to get DVD repaired for $300…
