Check The Condition of your AC Compressor Pulley

Compressor Pulley in fragments

If you're hearing whining noises, clicks from the engine compartment, check your AC compressor pulley...Check it anyway because the last year of the W221 is 10 years old. This is from my 2007 S550 4Matic. I was meaning to change it prior to something like this happened and got distracted by life.

So this happened to me 3-4 months ago. I took the opportunity to replace ax compressor at that point lol.

Lucky for me, the compressor still spins fine. I'm just going to slap another pulley on it.

I had 170k miles on the compressor.. it was better to just buy a new compressor. Do you have a pulley? Live anywhere in nj? I have a pulley

I'm glad you found the glitch before it's too late . We had to replace my dad's (Cadillac Fleetwood , different car but principles of those are same ) A/C unit and it was having clicking noises as well as compressor was cycling on / off quite often

if u get the right part you did well to source one... I did mine about 5 years back at 50k miles the bearing was already getting noisy

the big circlip is a nuisance, few tools expand enough or get clearance to do in situ - otherwise its an easy 1hr homer

I'm working from below the car and have a good deal of room. I had to use a small puller to get the remains of the bearing off of the shaft and had just enough space.
