Problem with 2011 s550 not staying in Drive when door is closed

Having a problem with my 2011 s550. Got off from work today and it was driving fine. As I pull into my house, after I stop the car, it goes into park by itself. I put it into Drive, drive 2-3 feet, the car goes into park by itself again, same with reverse. It did this repeatedly maybe 5-6 times until I parked it where I had to. no error messages on dash and I will be having it scanned tomorrow. Anything I should be looking for?
Only does this when the drivers door is closed. When the drivers door is open it’s behaving normal.

does it go in park whilst the doors are closed or after you have opened a door?

if its when you open a door then could be the ABS sensors beginning to play up (ever use the electronic park brake - if so is it behaving?) into 2007 they made it auto go in to park if (it thinks) its stationary and you open the drivers doors...
another one makes the interior lights and door lights stay off in the daylight - very irritating when trying to understand why they don't work....

none of those points show up in early cars (but then again USA didn't get really early ones)

Only doing it when door is closed

Just found out It’s only doing it while the drivers door is closed. If I keep the drivers door open it behaves normal

thats an odd one... being a later car the software in all its modules is different.... it might be a bug they had and a quick flash on a module will make it go away.... or something is worn out

what mileage ? wonder if a wire has broken to the door and it thinks its open

you might as well test the part brake - if its being weird (like falling to auto release as you try to drive off, or you get random bongs you aren't used to - it points toward broken wires on the ABS sensors - which is a common bug)

scanner says door is open even when the door is closed. If I open the door and close it again, scanner switches to closed then open immediately after.

Microswitch is incorporated into door latch assembly try spraying electrical contact cleaner inside door lock assembly if this fails, needs to be replaced. Provide VIN if you want part #.

So, in my car (2012) if I open the door when moving very slow the transmission goes to P. If I put it on “D” while the door is already open it stays on “D” but I get the red “Door Open” warning in the dash.

When you close the door but it switches to open indication you should be able to put it on “D” and drive but should get the “Door Open” warning.
