Does anyone know what has happened to our great contributor Konigstiger? He hasn’t posted in years. I asked one of the site administrators, but he had no information.

Same here, I asked around on BW too and no one seems to know. Hoping he's ok and just floating on a yacht somewhere.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who misses him. I really hope he pops up again sometime.

With as helpful as he's been over the years, someone, somewhere (on this site) must have a line with him right?

I sent him an email. He helped me with a seat problem a couple years ago. Hope the email address is still good.

So Ive been thinking about this for awhile when I first notice he disappeared and being that it was during the time of covid and not knowing anything about him, I googled everywhere and found no activity. I too think he has passed on... He was a very nice helpful member to many car communities.

What I have been thinking about is the juxtaposition in that many of us that have been on forums for decades have often continued to remain in anonymity while younger users are completely out there with their identities, using it as a social and financial tool. Ive remained in anonymity because I lean more towards the expectations afforded to us in the constitution, which is completely another subject...

Within these forums some of us meet in person, might become friends, but most of us remain just a screen name with a personality. My first experience with someone disappearing from a forum I was a part of was way back in '02 ish. Audiworld. The person passed away when a crane collapsed into their building, maybe in their 20's or early thirties. I remember that after reading the story which a friend updated to the forum, that I missed his daily banter even though I didnt know him and likely never even had a message with him. What I do know is that it was nice to have closure.

Ive thought about that randomly over the years when people from the forums pass away. Some people really make an impact on the community and are just good people. Any many would

So, in light of my ramblings, how do we make sure our internet friends know when we've moved on. Many of us dont use regular social media. Internet obit of screenames?

You hear so many stories around the social media revolution. Actually very few of them have happy endings. We are not meant for dispossessed social interaction. Covid reinforced that axiom.
With everyone looking like bank robbers, you couldn’t read faces, to see nuance in non verbal communication. Same principle applies on the internet, on these social media sites, internet dating sites, **** sites, and worse.
I am old school like Baltistyle. I have no social media presence, revealing anything about myself, or my family. I want my privacy. I want the peace of mind to not be overly concerned that someone could use personal information for identity theft.
Now I am not opposed to identity swapping, as long as I approve the swap. You know, swap with Elon, Jobs, Gates, really just about any billionaire. And not for forever, just long enough to get their affairs in order.
Getting back to more somber notes, unless someone has a social internet presence, like Facebook, with some sort of tie in to an obituary announcement, that automatically posts to a forum like this, I don’t know how anyone would go about notifying those concerned.
As for me, if I know I am about to go, I will try to post about it first.
