Probably sales. The 580 typically sells more than the 500 so they likely want to move more inventory.

My guess is they either have too many ‘23 S500’s sitting unsold and/or they want to sell more hybrids.

What is the MBUX Entertainment Package (49U) that is now standard?

Also, by virtue of them adding a 5G communication module means our cars obviously can’t communicate with that cellular network, I presume?

it's already out on a couple of models, I haven't seen it in person yet though. But I think moonlight white is on the C Class, GLC, EQE, and new SL.

I’ve seen it on the new C and SL, and the difference is honestly imperceptible. I genuinely cannot tell the difference. It’s similar to Nautical Blue replacing Lunar Blue. As an owner of a Lunar blue car, I still cannot tell the difference unless they are side by side.

Here in the NJ there are loads of new S500’s that MB is desperate to unload. The current deal is 7% off list and a $10k rebate from MB. Of course this is due to the fact that MB is no longer building this model. FYI, be cautious buying this model as it does suffer from different electrical problems and they have so far reared their ugly heads.

It’s not coming at all. I was at my MB dealer and they said flat out there won’t be another S500 (or 6 cylinder variant until perhaps the W224). The good news is, MB has prudently decided to produce very few S580 hybrids for the coming model year. I was told the only availability will be by order only. Time will tell.

Nope. The S500 and S63 are still not there.

One can only hope that the folks in Stuttgart have decided to take a breather, take a step back and are trying to figure out how to get their ship back on an even keel. So many models that were brought to market post 2020, have had severe issues. From the new GLC, to the new SL, to the W223, the 3-Pointed Star is not shining as brightly as is once was. I know that some feel that this downward trajectory started many years ago and I’m sure there is some merit to that way of thinking, but I feel that it was the CCP Virus fiasco that really got MB off track.

The new S63 has the potential to be a magnificent car. Hopefully, it will come to market FULLY sorted and ready for prime time, unlike the other W222 models. Just my opinion of course.

Moonlight white intrigues me. One thing that frustrates me about my diamond white is it looks yellowish in some lighting. Hopefully Moonlight is closer to BMW's mineral white.

Agreed. Hoping for a much “whiter” white. On the same subject, I am much happier with the Iridium Silver on my S560 than I was with the Cirrus Silver on the S580. Why they had to change from Iridium is beyond me, as it is a perfect silver to my eyes.

Yeah I don't care for the cirrus silver either...

The diamond white looks great in bright sunlight and even at night, but on a cloudy day it looks pretty yellow

Porsche makes a GT Silver, love that silver, had it on a 911, Had almost the same thing on a Z06, Machine, I think Chevy calls it. BMW has it too, Titanium if remember right. All very very similar colors. Don't remember seeing it with Mercedes but I'd have considered it if they had it.

I like the Cirrus Silver, very pretty with a nice hint of blue. Would be my top pick on a lot of models.
