Transmission Mount replaced

Well, I got around to replacing my transmission mount. Night and day difference. The ride is sooooo much smoother. It took about 30 minutes, 10 of which were me figuring out where I wanted to jack the car up at.

6 17mm bolts on the tranny plate, 2 13mm bolts that hold the mount to the plate and 2 more 17mm bolts the hold the mount to the transmission. Easy and worth the $25 for the mount.

I had a ugly vibration at about 2300rpm-2800rpm and I knew it was the mount, just never got around to it.

Don't wait, just replace it. Mine didn't look bad, but when I put the new one in it was night and day difference. I made a write up on the process

Yeah, don't wait, just do it. if you hava a little vibration now, it will go away with the new mount. Easy to install and took about 15 min. worth the time and $25 for the part.

where did you get the mount for 25.00? The local dealer here wants a lot more than that...

CAn't hurt to replace it. You might want to look in to motor mounts as well.

Finally got around to change my transmission mount today. As I expected due to small vibration when coming to a stop the mount was cracked. Feels so much better now for a small fee of 65$

Just purchased an 04 S55 and discovered an annoying vibe between 65-75mph. Just put new tires on it and the technician informed me one of the rims looks to have been welded. I was also thinking one of the mounts. Do you have the steps you took to change out the mount? Sounds like it was fairly simple and quick to do.

I just replaced my tranny mount but opted to go with the Lemforder mount as it is higher quality than the one offered on autohaus.

I got it here:
http://www.bmaparts.com/

$33 + $11 for shipping, the dealership charges $75 for the exact same part

They don't have it listed but you can special request it, Part #212 240 04 18

Just had transmission mount replaced and i can't believe the difference. The car feels great and there is no vibration at a low speed or high speed. I use a shop here in south Florida the charged me $275.00 including mount that cost $72.0. Very happy what a difference in the ride.

Wow that was pretty expensive. Not sure if it was your S500 that you had it done on from your info, but on the S55 it's a simple job.

Either way, good thing you got it done. Makes a huge difference.

I had it done to my S500. Dealer wanted $140.00 more.
This shop has done other work on my cars and has always been very
Fair with me compared to the Benz dealer. My 2000 S500 only has
58,000 miles on it I want to stay on top of maintence because this
Car is as cherry as they come.

Do you have a link to your write up, i think il try this myself shortly as iv got a vibration at standstill? The whole car seems to rock back and forth, every so slightly but it is annoying at times.

I did mine yesterday, and its not even as difficult as that.

You don't need to remove the six bolts on the the transmission cross-member; that can stay where it is.

You just undo the two 1/2" bolts to the x-member, and the two 16mm bolts to the trans. Then its straight in and out.

Vibrations gone.

I know this is an old thread, but I just swapped out my OE transmission mount for a new one (dealer parts counter) at 77k miles and my shudder at 1.4k and 2.2k RPM is gone.

Such a simple job and little money for a superb improvement.

Hello,

old thread but I think I have a bad transmission mount as at very low RPMs with the car in Drive and foot slightly on brake there is the vibration.

The vibration almost goes away if i put the car in W mode (winter), but when you keep it in S (summer) mode the vibration is there so makes me think its the trans mount.

My question - for those who replaced this themselves, was it pretty easy to do with basic tools? Or anything special needed to do the repair?

I'm not a mechanic by any means, but i've swapped out basic stuff like belt tensioner, pulley's etc but never touched trans...

thanks for any input for those who have done this.

Its about the easiest job there is.
Four half inch bolts.
Just remember to support the transmission.

great thanks for the input. doesnt sound too bad to do as DIY.

any idea whats the correct P/N for this trans connector on a 2003 C32??

Below is the one that shows as correct from FCPEuro for my 2003 C32, but other sites give a slightly different number, hope I got the right one?
