I love living my car life through others! Let’s see what you’re all up to.

I’ve been doing a bunch of maintenance work most recently valve cover gaskets, injectors, and intake manifold gaskets/PCV.

Next up is H&R springs and long tube install..

Been browsing the forum, Craigslist and eBay every day for the last year in hopes to snag a deal on an LSD. eBay is far and few between typically outrageously priced. One recently popped up for $1300USD local to me in Vancouver BC as a complete unit with 31,000km (19,000mi). I messaged the seller and was able to grab it for $1200cdn ($875usd)!

Cant wait to go sideways

Sitting in the garage with the trickle charger connected. Trying to figure out a way to connect my Android phone to Comand and play internet radio stations. My unit doesn't have the DAB+ option installed so when driving around cross country, I loose and can't listen to my favourite FM stations

Chopped the rearward belly pan and relocated the mount bolts to work with the Weistec trans pan.

The clips managed to fit over the lip of the exhaust brace so I just drilled a couple holes for the screws to pass through.

Welp, I insured my car today after being off the road for winter. A few weeks back I replaced the PCV, intake mani gaskets and valve cover gaskets.

Much to my chagrin my driver side valve cover is leaking again (around bolt #7). It’s a **** off, as I double and triple checked everything before torquing in the correct sequence. I pulled the cover back off in hopes to see the gasket had folded or wasn’t seated properly, but that wasn’t the case.

I’ve thoroughly inspected for cracks, nothing. Going to try a few dabs of RTV tomorrow before I order a new valve cover and chalk it up as a “warped cover”

If anyone else has had a similar experience, please chime in!

Mine was leaking back drivers side, took it off the gasket was folded, replaced it and stopped the leak for a few months, then leaking again, took it off could not find anything wrong replaced the gaskets again and still leaking a few weeks later, pulled it again to do a new gasket and then finally found the crack. The crack was very hard to find and finest little hair line, I had to flex the cover near the back bottom corner and finally could see it. I replaced the cover and have had no issues since. As an FYI when I go the new one I put a straight edge on it and it was not flat at the gasket end to end, ordered a second on and it was better but still not flat. Talked to the guys at the dealer and they claimed they all came that way and they bolt them on and have not issues, so I put it on and it hasn't been an issue.

Did you also replace the bolts, I did bolts with mine as the ring on the bolt seems to crush a little when torqued and set the proper distance for the gasket, might want to try new bolts also if you have not.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

I did replace the bolts. It’s leaking from a 2” spot around bolt #7. I completely dried everything, ran it again and then ran my finger along the head surface to se if it was possibly running from the back but it wasn’t.

That is about where mine seemed to collect also around bolt number 7 and from there to the back corner, crack was just below the rear coil right along the curve of the cover - new cover has a new part number and a lot of people have them crack in that same spot so seems there was a issue and it is hard to find the crack.

Wouldn't it be possible to fit the older metal valve covers, or are they no longer available?

Well on a positive note, my oil leak is no longer. Not sure what it was but it’s gone.

However I have a big problem now.. car was idling for 10min no problem, all of a sudden it shut off. I could smell a faint “electrical”.

Putting my nose to the back of the valve cover it seemed to be coming from cylinder 8 coil.. sure enough the plug wasn’t completely clipped in. I pulled the coil which smells like burnt electrical (yay) but now the car won’t start, or even try to start.

Will a bad coil cause this? FML.

Edit: I should add, it doesn’t even attempt to turn over

It could be low battery voltage. Check the voltage and if it is close to 11.5 volts or less then charge the battery up fully and give it another try. A bad coil might keep the car from starting or running smoothly but I am not sure it will keep the engine from turning over. I am sure that low battery voltage will keep the car from even trying to start although all the lights might still function normally.

This looks to be the current number A 15 601 619 05 I don't see an older number listed though, so now going to double check, but the number on my old one I did double check and it had a different number than the new one. The aluminum one lists 3 revisions, so also not sure why it was changed so much as I don't hear of many issues with them.

Edit - found my old cover old part was A 156 010 0401

Just started doing my Cam Adjusters today, replacing plates with 63 Motorsport plates and noticed the original sicker on left cover is the old part number.
Now wondering if I should have ordered new covers when I ordered all the gaskets.
Both of my covers leak from similar areas.

I actually had a dream of my C63 last night.....I often have dreams of my C63...either I am upset that someone drove it and beat on it and I found out, or me getting into it and driving it, or something on it got damaged and I was upset....its crazy. Anyone else have the car in their dreams in any form? Maybe I'm just nuts.

Nope, they're all fixed. One of the reasons for the small slider window.
