Where is the aux input for ipods in the glove box?

I seem to remember someone mentioning this. I didn't see anything in the manual.

On the left just inside the glovebox is a jack point. You insert the cable from the iPod into that jack point (I bought a small jack point cable to run between the two). You then use "svcs" button on the dash Comand module to get to "aux" and this tunes to the iPod. Works great. I can alter the volume using the steering wheel controls but not switch between files etc. Good luck.

I (think that I) have read somewhere in this forum that this feature does not exist in the post-2004 models, but I am not certain. However, for the SL's that have it, it is indeed as per "Third SL"s post.

MB deleted the aux input jack in models produced after about mid 2004. Why? I don't know. They seem to take away some of the best options just like they deleted the ability to switch between radio presets using the steering wheel up/down buttons. Now it just scans up/down to the next frequency.

exactly. if you open the glove box, you will see the aux input on the left wall inside the glove compartment. it is also in the manual but it's only one little sentence that references it. hope this helps.

If the car has a trunk loading map DVD then it is the version of the car that doesnt have AUX on the head unit.

I think it was deleted when the NAV was upgraded from CD based to DVD based. At that time they upgraded the fiber optic network to MOST from DB2. The aux input was taken away in favor of the DVD NAV on the network. I dont understand their reasoning because I thought their network is a fiberoptic ring and could handle the extra node.

Before the end of the year you will be able to use an iPOD in a MOST car with a Siemens head unit.

The Siemens head unit is the one that is widescreen and does not have an AUX jack.

Dont assume that the head unit is perfectly stable with a large number of nodes. This is a matter which is hotly contested between head unit makers.

What type of sound quality do you recieve from this? I just looked in my glove box and see the input, its one small hole right? Like where you would plug in a small headphone jack...

I know mp3's vary in quality, but assuming I have good quality mp3s.. do you still get good sound?
