SL roof open/close while driving?

Hey guys, do any of you have this installed from Piecha? Apparently, you can open/close the roof of the SL/SLK/CLK while driving.

Video from piecha.com:
http://www.piecha.com/02b77898be08b6...f06f/index.php

I used Google to translate and I got this:

For SLK R171, SL R230 and CLK W209

Gönnen it itself finally the luxury to be able to open while driving and by remote maintenance the Variodach!

The comfort Variodach module is conceived and suitably for all SLK R171, CLK 209 and SL R230.
EMV examined with very small power input (under 0,8mA). An TÜV entry is not necessary

We revised our comfort Variodach module into a Plug & a Play version (simple patch cord) completely and built some product improvements, which were to date not yet available. The expenditure of time for the installation amounts to approx. 20 minutes and represents owing to detailed and understandable fitting instruction no problem. No cables for the installation must split to become. The module can be at any time again without trace developed.

Here you experience more over our comfort Variodachmodul!

A friend of mine has that for his SLK55, he totally loves it and has had no problems.

I ordered this one yesterday:

so, where can I get it installed after I order it?

What exactly am I going to get in the mail?

Finally, can I open/close my SLK roof while driving? The video only shows the SL.

Thanks,
shahedC

Why would anyone want this?

Aside from the safety factors, opening and closing the top while the vehicle is in motion could cause damage to the roof and its moving parts. There's a reason why it's made from the factory so it can't be opened while driving!

The only benefit to this would be the one touch feature.
That is the only reason I am considering the device.

How about if I am going in 20 mph suburban traffic... I wasn't sure if it would still cause damage or not...

It wont be as bad as going 40MPH, but I am sure overtime
the added stress will cause parts to fail prematurely.

People who don't like to sit in there SL and hold back a switch for 16 seconds everytime they want to raise/lower the top Being able to access the hardtop using the fob is going to be liberating.

I see what you're saying about using it while moving, I probably won't be doing that above 5-10mph...

I have it and I love it!
When i exit the car I push lock on the key two times and the roof closes as i walk away.
The otherway around when i get to the car. Or get in the car and use the one touch function while driving away SLOWLY. I have mine set to a maximum speed of 30 km/h (20 mph ?). But I use this function as little as posible since I think it would damage the roof.
Installation is easy, it took me about 45 minutes.

Could you please describe the installation procedure?

Also, if I install it on my R171 SLK, will it be just as easy?

(Keep in mind, I am not much of a car guy, when it comes to working on cars)

Just finished the install. It took about an hour. I've only tested a few things so far and they all worked.

If I had to do it again, it would take about 15minutes Most of the time was spent figuring out how to fold up the carpet. Once that was taken care of, the rest was easy.

Some pointers:

Make sure you have lots of light. I installed mine with the top down, doors open on a bright sunny day and still didn't have quite enough light. Get a flashlight.

Remove the plastic covering by grabbing both sides of it and pull hard, don't worry, you won't break anything. I wasted a lot of time being carefull...

For step 7, ignore the manual when concerning bracket removal. I struggled with it for a few minutes and then eventually, out of frustration, I slid it upwards to see what would happen. It slipped right out

For steps 8 & 10, ignore the manual (visually). It shows the brown and black wire as being on very left side. Mine was 3rd from the right. Just make sure you disconnect the brown and black wire and not the others.

Think thats it, let me know if you have anymore questions

Well, I also have the illuminated doors sills installed on my SLK... will I have problems with it?

Even the professional Mercedes techs took all day to install it when I went to pick up my car on the first day.

I don't see how, you don't have to remove the door sills. It's a plastic cover next to the door sill...

oh ok thanks.. I didn't know which part I would have to remove... I just didn't want to mess with something that took a long time for the pros to install...
