SL/R231: Mercedes Extending Coverage for Exhaust Valve Assembly on 2013-16 M278's

2020 GLC300 -2014 Sl550 - 1997 SL600
The letter above was mailed out recently to MB owners.
There was a TSB (technical service bulletin) issued by MB related to this issue back in 2015 - LI01.30-P-061835 (see attachment)
It seems to be more prevalent in the more abused SUV M278 installations.
The going theory is perhaps ethanol, or machine tool programming/tooling induced tolerance error causing valve (guide) issues. Hard to know what the true culprit is, though I’m sure Mercedes has a better idea of the actual failure rate and underlying cause.
The purpose of posting this is if in the off chance it does happen to someone, at least they know it’s covered.
But I see plenty of M278’s with 150k mi. or more. So I probably wouldn’t worry too much.

I got this in the mail today and it took me by surprise. How big an issue is this? I can't recall it ever being discussed on this forum and we tend to obsess over everything. CR, love to hear your take on this.
