SL/R232: Impressions 2022 SL AMG 63

Hard to believe, but theses are unusual times, this SL is a 2022, although today is November 19. Normally, I would have waited for a 2023, and not have accepted a year old car. To my knowledge, the 2023 have no changes, have not been delivered, and have not been priced, although I anticipate at least a 5% increase.
My initial ride home, top up, on non freeway roads was a surprisingly pleasant and quiet experience, with more comfort than I anticipated. I varied the speeds, and played around with the settings during my 30 mile get acquainted ride. I even utilized the active adapted cruise control and tested the automatic braking. This car is a technological wonder!
I was hoping to avoid any paint chips from stones and road debris until my clear bra paint protection is completed.
I will share future updates on my SL journey.

By the way, the car receives a lot of stares and compliments!

Regrettably the vehicle could not be delivered til mid Nov because assembly/calibrations were not complete so finally I got to take delivery with necessary snow tires. Was due to arrive last April!-at least I saved the luxury tax on this one.
Coming to Fla for 2 mos in Feb so having it valet hauled to Cape Coral.
Having had a recent GTC,GT Pro+ as well as a number of previous SL63's, I too am amazed at how this car sounds ,handles-the new augmented reality is amazing.
Still breaking it in on the no-snow days--have noticed just this past week that there appears to be no AM radio, which I usually go to only for road reports. Have sent an email and am waiting a reply . The sound from the back end I find to be stronger/superior to even the Pro+.
Far more refined imho than my prev GTs'. So far better in every way to me.
Can't wait for Florida in Feb to get the top down-Plan on driving it back to Canada thro the mountains come April.
Do enjoy yours.

Better put the top up regularly also, it is better for the roof fabric, etc. Leave it down always, will leave ugly traces on the roof material I am afraid.

Has any one experienced the lower left button, only 1/2 illuminated. Among other settings’, the spoiler is controlled by the top half. I took it in to my dealer, waited 2.5 hours and eventually received a loaner car. Apparently multiple computer updates to correct. Very strang to receive delivery 300 miles ago, and not have the latest software upgrades. Quite disappointed.

Would love to see photos of your color combination as it’s one that I’m considering.

seeing that picture up close of the steering wheel, though, I just can’t get over that in a flagship model with a sky high price increase that they didn’t cover that airbag Center in leather but rather cheapo plastic, what a miss on Mercedes’ part! Would have costed them $3 in extra leather parts and could have sold it for $5 more on the base price lol.

Oh well, all is not lost. Perhaps MB or some aftermarket supplier will come up with a “removable” hardtop and R232 owners can put a hoist in their garages to lift it off.
Talk about going bassackwards!
