Well, if you go through corners a lot, it might not be a bad option with the lighter front end.

so far so good!

differences I noticed so far:
  • TOLL RESPONDER (USELESS?)
  • BETTER RESPONSIVENESS TO SCREEN/ROOF (MAY BE MENTAL)
  • TRUNK CARGO BUTTON (AUTOMATIC FOLDS)
  • 2 NETS BY REAR SEATS FOR STORAGE
After parking it for 1st time I heard a clicking sound in both rear wheel wells (towards the front of the well). Any ideas?

I love the trunk cargo button - would love to have it in mine - and the 2 nets. Handy.

The Patagonia Red I think is much more stricking than the Alpine grey was.
Also - the steering wheel controls for changing stations seems to work a lot better.
Engine seems to have plenty of power (for my city driving needs).
I can surely notice the lack of 4 wheel steering. It will be missed.
Also I had the upgraded headliner last time and now do not. Visual looks a lot cheaper without it!
And....new front AMG badge vs MB badge is cool.

Loving the new car. I miss the 4 wheel turning. The smaller motor is no issue for my NYC driving.

Also the Alcantara roof although silly and $ may be worth it as now I know what I am missing and the stock roof seems cheap.

I had been leaning towards a SL 43 to replace my R230 SL 550 however the complaints and voucher situation is pushing me towards a Lexus LC500. There is a SL 43 for sale near me with the dealer pictures showing the convertible flaps stuck in a lifted position w/ the top down:
SL 43 Flaps stuck opem

I am guessing they just did not close it all the way. The flap down is the final movement.

to open or close the top you DO NOT need to use the touch screen.
Just hit the convertible button below the touch screen once then hit the same button a second time and keep it depressed until the top completes its operation (about 15 sec) and the car makes an audible ding to announce it.

Perhaps but this listing stuck in my head due to a 2022 AMG SL 63 owner posting a complaint in the r/AMG forum on Reddit about his convertible top issues and being told by the dealer they didn't have a fix and Mercedes was researching the issue. The dealer got the top closed for the owner and told them to take the car but it could be a couple of months until the issue was resolved. I just checked the post it was placed a year ago in the forum: rAMG

Why do people always say this? The SL43 feels faster through corners but actually isn't (compared to the SL63, I don't have any SL55 experience).

Weight difference between the SL43 and the SL63 is around 100 kg, give or take. Ridiculous on a 1.8/1.9 t car.

The reason I said this was because I remember reading a thread in the R232 sub forums and someone took the SL 43, SL 55 and SL 63 through a driving event in the canyons they said they were pleasantly surprised by the 43 and the better cornering ability. Yes the physics part is the four cylinder being lighter than the V8 in the front.
