SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: overZealous1's build thread
I have the Carlsson "lowering box module" and I can adjust the height front and rear separately. Many different lower levels.
I think my car is approx 40 mm lower than OEM lowest standard setup.
I think it's near at the suspension bottom

Maybe this car have the lowering links also.... but I'm not sure.
MY CAR IS AT THE PAINT SHOP NOW...

the front still seems to ride decent, but the rear is like a rock even at my level. i am thinking i will raise the front of mine .5". the front is lower than rear and not looking correct. also, i am totally scrapping going into my driveway even in the highest mode. if not for the splitter i made, my front bumper would already be chipped up and trashed on the front corners!!
show some pics after paint! i am hitting primer and doing guide coat today myself! looks like color by next weekend.

most all edges are 90% resin with no matting so while doing final fitment stuff flanges were breaking off and shattering with any type of loads or clamping on them. very hard to even drill a hole without it shattering and made even worse by the fact almost none of the flanges are at the correct angle forcing you to have to bend them to mount. one mount for the front inside bumper air deflector just popped off in my hand with almost no force.
so after all the work put in so far just to get the panels to mostly match, the flanges breaking/cracking is making me have to finish again some areas.
i swear 25% of the kit is bondo with tons of work someone had already put into it. i really would have hated to see how this thing was right when pulled from the molds. i have purchased far cheaper kits and gotten better quality. having to lay up my own fiberglass and glue on some of my own mounting flanges.
very light edge sanding/shaping will result in opening up large voids and air bubbles that were trapped in the forming process that then needs to get filled.
i have lost count of my hours on this so far and am only at the point of primer. that equates to being only 70% of the way to being able to spray color compared to where i started though.
i am normally not one to ***** and just go with the flow, but i really reached a peak yesterday when i realized i still have a ton of work to get it to the quality of looking like factory panels. up till now it has just been trying to get the panels to match to eachother. now is making the edge thicknesses and mounting final positions and sanding with a guide coat. what i am running into is making me feel as though i am starting from scratch again on what should be the light at the end of the tunnel.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
if i wanted it to be a 10' car (looking great from 10' back) i would be about wrapped up. but i know i would never drive the car and hide it if it was like that!! oh well. luckily it is only my time and not having to pay to get it done.
Misha Designs should be kicked off this forum. God help anyone who buys their new C63 bodykit. I sure wont be!

i have to admit customer service has been good, and i have talked to them a few times regarding quality to make sure they are aware of it and can make the necessary adjustments.
there really isn't much of a faster way to do what needs to be done, so yes, if someone was paying to get it installed imo it would be about $10k. then paint!

would need to see in person to find out.
hoping the other parts will finish better. time, time, time.
i admit i am a perfectionist and if i am doing the work i expect the reflection to be near perfect (judging good body work you focus on the correct representation of the reflection, and don't focus on panel itself). crappy body work looks like a house of mirrors in the reflection. a super flat panel and great gloss with no orange peel means you can read a newspaper by just seeing it clearly in the reflection and the text lines do not wobble up and down. most all new cars are not even finished to that level though.
i am taking a few days off next week to hopefully have car together again by next weekend. then one last final go over of fitment and basically do a complete assembly with inner fenders and all to make sure nothing else needs to get modified and fits perfect. then, paint.
ug. and they call this a labor of love. :P

by looking at the intersection of the fender and the side sill, the pd fitment looks abit better.

hard to tell, but this is the rear bumper to fender. still assembling the car again so will get better pics in the daylight.

so i am past my first main guide coat and most all of it came out good. i did ofcourse flatten it quite a bit before spraying my own thick primer on it though. most of anything left will float out in the clear. i plan on doing 6 coats of high solids clear and will be cutting and buffing it. with that much clear you can almost do body work with it!!

i tried a couple ideas to replace the slats in the hood and rear, but they just didn't come out as good. i will just need to make new slats or something. i will be painting everything even the slats blue then decide if i want them black later. they are far from being straight enough to paint with clear!! bairily good enough for flat black the way they are!
