SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: overZealous1's build thread
went to the portland roadster show today (the show i was trying to get my car done for
) and george barris was there. he was doing signatures and instead of having him sign a stupid little card they were offering, i told him i would scour the show looking for some of his other memorabilia to have him sign. i found a guy selling tons of old magazines and he has 2 old george barris magazines. i purchased and headed back to get him to sign them. pretty cool to meet one of the most famous auto builders in the world, and get him to sign some long lost books he actually did. it was a good day.

my car is pretty slammed so i may be closer to those inner panels than you. a 1/4" difference in tire width and 1/8" smaller in dia actually gives a world of difference, and hopefully will give me the room to come out another 1". i'm just not willing to go much more and have tires rubbing, and raising it is out of the question. haha
part of what needs to happen first is resetting alignment. there is a ton of camber gain once you get past the normal drive height. the top of my wheel is tilted in over 1.5"! i need to see how the alignment is done to know if camber pivot point will be lower or upper control arm.
so don't worry guys, car isn't done yet. but where ever i set the tire, there is a reason i set it there.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
) She used D2-Forged wheels I believe, not 1 piece like CCW'sare you sure the ccw's are not a welded 2 piece? i didn't think they had a one piece wheel. either way, my adv's are going to be the ticket for me. the spacers are hubcentric to car and to wheels, so it is just as strong and reliable as without them. the old porsche 962 race cars had 3" bolt on spacers.

as the car gets closer to finished all the little loose ends will come into focus more. till then, goal is only paint right now.
Here is my new Black series steering wheel. Carbon and Alcantara.
1250 USD incl the new wheel and freight costs.

does not look like the pano roof glass is removable though. may have to take somewhere to get it taken out. i do not trust myself!
that color typically has a blue pearl to give it the electric look, and the secondary flop for blue pearl is purple. hard to make any car look bad with it.
i found this pic. it has all of my colors in it. the blue is very close (even though his is satin blue) with black wheels and accents, then the background light and dark greys kind of simulate my interior colors. i think it will look good on the widebody sl. would look like junk on like a geo metro vert. lol.
i spend about an hour a day looking at each color and on different cars, and i see a couple of each every single day. the voodoo blue and now, the hyundai marathon blue. it is the blue on the new veloster. ultimately the color will be decided at the paint counter at purchase, which will be thursaday. cost usually is not much different as they spread the cost close over nearly all the colors.

i have seen it many times as a friend has a blue veloster, these are about the truest pics i could find of the color. maybe i will set up a pole to tally some opinions.
The SL will look feminized to the
side in that shade, it has unique presence that demands bolder colorsEdit: Even the C63 in Pastel blue looks to be in panties (front shot looks ok but 3/4 rear shot def shows it's sporting G-String)
